I’ve had some annoying server (and co-workers monkeying with server) issues the last few days, and let me tell ya, I’ve contemplated some of these:

The Spastic Drummer
I’m sure the lead singing lady of this group was probably thinking this would really be great for her career. But I don’t know about you — while she’s certainly easy to look at, I can’t keep my eyes off her spastic percussionist:
Can you imagine this guy with one of these percussionist tables?
Another Broken TV (and an Expensive Vacation) Thanks To A Wii
I work for a company that rents vacation homes. More and more of these homes have big-screen TVs, and people are realizing that and bringing their Wii with them to play with during their vacation (only a couple of our homes actually have a Wii in the home already). There are already a couple sites dedicated to what those little controllers can do to household objects if you’re not strapped in when you’re flinging them around. We’ve already had one window destroyed in one of our homes thanks to an errant Wii controller (don’t have pictures of that one), and now, the latest victim — a three-day-old 48″ LCD TV:
The folks renting the house knew they’d put a pretty substantial crack in the screen, and we knew that the next renters coming in (the same day of their departure — ’tis Spring Break after all) had already been told about the new big-screen in the home and were looking forward to it. So we had to get a new TV out there. The guest agreed to just buy the new TV (which the local BestBuy had in stock) to put in the home. The renter took the broken one home to see if they could get it fixed themselves and at-least get an expensive LCD out of the whole thing.
We’re thinking about investing in (or creating?) some of these, just to have at the office, for our expensive TV homes (and certainly for the homes that have a Wii already in them).

The Tournament Starts Up Again Today
And I’m hoping to see some crazy antics like Speedo Man (I’m amazed the guy even hit the rim on the free throw).
[Edit: Animation removed as it killed the bandwidth at photobucket, but you can see it after the jump]
If you look left side of the screen in this YouTube video you can see him:
Update: The bandwidth for that animated GIF image has already died with photobucket. So I’ve put it after the jump, linked from this server (just didn’t want it on the front page so it didn’t bulldoze my bandwidth).
Eric Clapton Is All Thumbs
These are some of the funniest videos I’ve seen in a long time:
Late last year a Finnish media artist named Santeri Ojala got a lot of attention for a series of hilarious YouTube videos in which he lifted concert footage of various guitar heroes and overdubbed his own intentionally awful playing. The bad musicianship was funny enough, but the verisimilitude made it even funnier: Ojala was great at matching each player’s hand movements and timing, and he sprinkled lukewarm applause and other sound effects throughout. The videos were like alternate-universe versions of rock-god cliches.
Watch this Eric Clapton solo:
And be sure to watch Stevie Ray (and watch them here if they disappear from YouTube).
I Don’t Remember Ryan Longwell Being Married To Queen’s Front Man
NFL kicker Ryan Longwell is many things (including a former Bend High School standout). But when Wikipedia said that he is married to the late Freddie Mercury and had kids named Skeeter and Dermit, that was news to me (screen shot below as this will probably prompt somebody at Wikipedia to change the article):
It appears that the Freddie Mercury reference was added last month as it was different before. It was changed by somebody at the IP address 69.81.255.220, which is owned by an Earthlink branch in Neenah, Wisconsin. My guess: Since Longwell doesn’t play for Green Bay Packers anymore, it was a crazy Cheesehead who made that edit (even though he was signed by the Minnesota Vikings a couple years ago and the edit only recently appeared).

It Makes For A Much Better Comic
I stopped reading the Garfield comic strip years ago. It just wasn’t funny or interesting to me anymore. But Garfield minus Garfield makes the strip a lot more interesting by taking that obnoxious orange cat completely out of the picture:
Who would have guessed that when you remove Garfield from the Garfield comic strips, the result is an even better comic about schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and the empty desperation of modern life? Friends, meet Jon Arbuckle. Let’s laugh and learn with him on a journey deep into the tortured mind of an isolated young everyman as he fights a losing battle against loneliness in a quiet American suburb.
