It Makes For A Much Better Comic

I stopped reading the Garfield comic strip years ago. It just wasn’t funny or interesting to me anymore. But Garfield minus Garfield makes the strip a lot more interesting by taking that obnoxious orange cat completely out of the picture:

Who would have guessed that when you remove Garfield from the Garfield comic strips, the result is an even better comic about schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and the empty desperation of modern life? Friends, meet Jon Arbuckle. Let’s laugh and learn with him on a journey deep into the tortured mind of an isolated young everyman as he fights a losing battle against loneliness in a quiet American suburb.

Alex says:

Wow. It *is* funnier. Really obscure though, it might not fly with the old folks who still read paper comics.

dartagnan says:

LMAO!!! Hilarious! Do you suppose Jim Davis has been subtly pulling our leg all these years?

Redmond-ite says:

Maybe Garfield has been a figment of Jon’s imagination all these years. Kind of like the final episode of Newhart?
