Why I Will Never Live In The Midwest, Reason #418

This is size of the hail and some of the damage it did in parts of Kansas last night, sent to me by a former Bend-ite that had to move there when Columbia was bought up by Cessna:

Big Damn Hail Hail Does Bad Things to Roofs ...and lawns

Update: A couple more from the storm, this time from a local golf course, sent by our Kansas corespondent:

Maybe you remember our old 91 Honda Civic….affectionately nicknamed “the golfball.” Well, it got that way just before we bought it in Lawrence, KS, when a hailstorm blew through and did major damage at the car dealerships.
We drove down from Iowa to buy it, for $6500 plus the trade of our 1984 Buick LeSabre. Best deal we ever got on a car. It lasted 170K miles and 17 years.

You could have anti-golf on that course… you score by it NOT going down a hole 🙂

wow, that is insane!

Hail like this is an anomoly…even in the MIdwest. Here in Minnesota we get hail from pea-size to 1/2″ size…if we get anything bigger than 1″ it’s usually pretty rare.
