Amen, Brother

I’m glad I’m not the only one that hates musical ringtones — what the heck is wrong with an actual ringing sound?

Couldn’t. Agree. More.

P.S. One of the funniest stupid ringtone experiences I’ve had came a few years ago when a little old lady was shopping late one night at Safeway. I’m guessing one of her kids, or maybe grandkids, gave her a cellphone and set the ring to the theme of the Pink Panther. She kept looking around but it never occurred to her that the sound was coming from her purse.

The Dren says:

Come on, both my phones play very loud music when they ring. My work phone plays a custom Beastie Boys “Brass Monkey” clip that I made myself. I’ve got to have very loud ringers that get my attention, the noise floor in our server room is aboout 90dB, and I would never hear it ring otherwise in there. Not to mention that in an office with close to 100 people, I need a ringtone that I can recognize as my work or personal cell phone ringing from 3 cubes away if I am up and helping someone from the Help Desk. Plus my kids think it is cool. Can’t go wrong with that!

Jake says:

Dren: If you’re smart enough to custom edit your own Beastie Boys ringtone, you’re smart enough to make two different actual rings to use 😉

The Dren says:

Smart but too lazy. 🙂 I have a problem where I swap my phone to vibrate in a meeting, then miss a bunch of calls later when I forget to switch it back after the meeting.

It’s all the “in thing”,especially the younger crowd [ we are getting older Jake!]…at least your young ones are not into the tones yet…( I say “yet” as I recall a Disney type phone for those younger ones with the gps tracking device-can’t remember where)..anyways..my child has more than a few…thanks to newer phones that allow for each person who phones you to be identified by a particular ringtone… I don’t find this amusing at all since I’m the parent…my child chose “phantom of the opera” to play when I call her…all others at least get some nice song playing.
