To Make You Smile

If you have kids, you’ll just love watching the kids laugh their little heads off in this video.

For those who say “That’s child abuse!” I say shut up — he’s playing and interacting with his kids (which sadly a LOT of parents don’t do anymore) and they wouldn’t be laughing if they were hurt or not having fun. Sheltering kids with no physical play only leads to messed up kids.

But the best part at the end was (I’m assuming) the older brother: “It’s alright! You’re supposed to bleed a little bit on the Slip ‘n’ Slide!”

At least slip and slides these days now have that nice little pool at the end… “In my day,” you just slipped off the end into whatever gravel, bark dust or sticks might be waiting for you! I loved the little boy… “Do you want to do it again?” “NO!”

Could agree with you more Jake! Well said!

Jake says:

Oh man, Redmond-ite — that’s why I hated slip-and-slides for the longest time. We always ended up sliding into gravel or bark.

I completely agree. I read somewhere that a lot of playgrounds are eliminating things like swings and merry-go-rounds because they’re “too dangerous”. It makes me sad to think that we’ve gotten so PC that we’re depriving our children of an integral part of growing up. I say let kids be kids… God knows they’ll grow up soon enough.
On a less soap boxy note, I never had a slip-n-slide growing up. I tried making one out of my dad’s blue tarp, but it didn’t work so well. I still had a good time with it, regardless of the rug burns on my knees and elbows.

“It’s okay, you’re supposed to bleed a little on the Slip ‘n Slide” — might qualify as the Best Line of the Month 🙂 🙂 LOL!!! That was awesome. Nothing like clapping babies, a bouncing dog, and some variety of a garden hose all in the same place.
