Parenting At Its Finest

I really hope the mom gets thrown in jail for a long time this

Drivers swerved cars and trucks into other lanes to avoid a 3-year-old boy, wearing only a diaper and T-shirt, who was playing along a busy highway after wandering away from home while his mother slept, police said.

[…]

Police said they traced the toddler to an apartment at a nearby complex, where they found his mother, Nancy Dyer asleep in a filthy apartment and his 2-year-old sister eating spaghetti off the floor.

Dyer, 33, was arrested on two counts of child neglect and remained in custody Sunday, officials said.

Senior State Trooper Cedric Merritt said that when Dyer was told of her son’s activities, she responded: “Oh, he got out again.”

Two words: White Trash. Poor kids — I’m sure they’ll end up with a much better mommy and daddy now.

These kinds of scenarios make me so angry, so frustrated.
We need driver’s licenses to operate a car. An OLCC license to serve booze. We need to take tests and be certified or licensed to sell homes, stocks, insurance.
What if people weren’t allowed to take babies home from the hospital without passing drug tests, or basic child-rearing compentancy tests?
The government won’t allow just anyone to sell a home, but a crackhead can go to a hospital, give birth, take the baby home, then collect welfare money to spend on more crack.
This makes me sick.

You know Jake, my wife and I had our first child, a baby girl 13 days ago (yep, still counting) and I cannot even fathom how a parent could even show such little regard for their child. I am lucky to get 4 hours of sleep a night with her in the house now. Not because she keeps me up entirely, but because I can’t get enough of her!
