Best Marketing Gimmick Ever

The full story is here, with pictures of the gimmick here. More info here. Wow! I live in downtown Portland, and I only have 54 Starbucks locations within a 5 mile radius…
Oh wait – make that 55. They haven’t added the Safeway Starbucks to the list. I wonder how many others they missed?

Dan says:

I’m glad you posted this as I had no idea what was going on. Standing in Logan Airport waiting for a cab and I notice a cuppa on top of the cab. I was pretty confused that it didn’t fall. Oh, and there are 53 Starbucks within 5 miles of my Boston address. Interestingly, there are only 31 Dunkin’ Donuts in a 5 miles radius.

Wow, I’m sorry, but does anyone else see this as *sick?!?* Not only are people addicted to coffee to the point of willing to be sick for it, its not even *good* coffee. Seriously, anyone who likes coffee, I would suggest a nice nonmultibillion dollar cafe. A Starbucks run by part-time teenaged girls cannot compare with a home-made brew specially by the owner of a cafe itself. How can anyone drink Starbucks?

abc says:

Just like why so many people eat McDonalds and not home made burgers. It a succesful business model, it makes people feel comfortable inside starbucks, we can sit down and have a chat. people don’t go there to drink coffees. Now u understand?
