Post Garage Sale Update

Forgot to post something about the garage sale aftermath. We ended up selling $300 worth of stuff. We probably would’ve sold more, but the weather didn’t cooperate so we just crammed everything back in our garage. I told Lydia that if we made over $250 that we’d buy a new stroller/bike trailer that will hold both of the kids, so we went to Costco and grabbed it for $147, and the other $150 was used to pay down a few bills.

Over all, the sale went really well. Jon‘s wife stopped by and said “hi” since she’s not going to be able to make it to the meet-up on Wednesday. She didn’t buy anything, but I won’t hold that against her 😉

We still have a couch, a 10 gallon fish tank with all the trimmings (just needs to be cleaned up), and a pile of baby clothes and a few toys left. Pop me an e-mail if you’re interested in any of it. The couch is sitting in my driveway, and if anybody wants it, they can come and get it — I just want the thing gone, and was getting to the point that I was trying to pay people to get rid of it.

Stupid Flash Fun

Nice little retro game where you try to shoot an arrow into your opponent. Can be played against a human or the computer. Stupid, bloody fun. Hint: To kill the guy faster, aim for the head.

Man Beats Baby For Breaking Playstation 2

If I’d ever met him, I’d beat the tar out of this guy for putting his precious video game system in front of his baby. Full Story.

What’s your best s**t story?

b3ta asked that question, and got some damn funny answers. One of my favorites is one of the first ones listed, though there are a ton of them:

My cat once ate a 6 foot-long piece of red and green string, which it couldn’t completely crap out. There i was, sitting in my living room, and my cat comes running through with about 5 feet of it trailing from its ass.

Considering it was around Christmas, she looked rather festive.

Poorly Placed Ads

A banner-ad for cheap wine on a Alcoholics Anonymous site. Whoops….

Modding a G4 Cube into a Mini-G5

Ken will appreciate this. A case-modder has taken the less-than-popular G4 Cube and put a pretty face on it, making it look like a mini-G5. The site is in Japanese, but the pictures say a thousand words.

Comparing the new Radeon X800 to the GeFORCE 6800

There are plenty of sites that will compare the latest high-end gaming video cards from both companies, but screw the technical details: I want to know which card is really better based on how cool it will make me.

Bend Blogger Meetup Scheduled

OK, Shannon has pretty much taken the lead on this, and I know Jon (and in-turn, Dane) are up for the idea (and rumor has it Barney the Anti/Meta/[I’m at a loss for a prefix]-blogger might show up), but we’ve scheduled a Bend Blogger Meetup for Wednesday, 5/12/04, at the Bend Brewery. Shannon’s already called them, and they’re expecting us.

So who’s on board? I’ll be e-mailing a few of you who I know don’t frequent this blog as much, just to see if we can get some folks to show up. Otherwise there will about MAYBE four of us there :). Ideally, all these folks would be there, but I’m not holding my breath. Now I just gotta convince the wife to let me out of the house for the evening.

Update on 5/6: So far, the rumors are that Dane (hopefully), Simone, Jon, Shannon (who better be there, since she’s planning it), and I are going to be there. I’ll be e-mailing Roger and Chris to see if they will get in on the fun (feel free to comment here guys).

Update on 5/9: I’ve not got confirmation from Roger (read the comments) that he’s going to make it, Jesse (whose blog is in infancy) will making it (and will be bugging Barney to make it), and Kerry, the guy behind BendBuzz will be making it as well. It’ll be a party, folks! 🙂

Garage Sale at the Ortman house

If anybody cares, we’re having a garage sale at my house in Bend on Friday and Saturday. We have a TON of baby stuff (it’s most of the garage sale — clothes, toys, saucer, bouncer, swing, play gym, carrier, formula, whatever), but I’ve got some electronic stuff I’m getting rid of, a lawnmower (Snapper Hi Vac — don’t know anything about it other than it runs good, we just have a newer one), some end tables, a dining table, a couch, a bed, a recliner, a doll house, a 19″ TV, a 10-gallon fish tank with equipment (needs to be cleaned), and some other stuff.

It’ll be Friday/Saturday, 8AM to whenever. It’s at 1319 NE Watson Drive in Bend. Stop by, say “Hi”, tell me you read the site, buy something, contribute to the “man I’ve got a lot of frickin’ bills” fund.

Anybody need Quickbooks Point of Sale?

I have a copy of the latest version of Quickbooks Point of Sale Basic 3.0 (I was a beta tester). I received the software as a beta tester and have no intention of using it. However, I can’t sell it as its an Not-For-Resale (NFR) package and I could get in a bunch of trouble for trying to sell it on eBay or the like. Anybody want/need it and could trade me something useful for it? Comment here or e-mail me at jake [at] [the domain you’re reading this site on].

Update: I’ve gotten rid of the program. Thanks for the interest!
