People Are Sheep
The University of Pennsylvania’s National Annenberg Election Survey shows that many Americans believe TV campaign lies:
The survey recently interviewed 1,026 adults in the 18 battleground states where the campaigns have been showing commercials since March. In those states, 61 percent of respondents believe Mr. Bush “favors sending American jobs overseas” and 56 percent believe Mr. Kerry “voted for higher taxes 350 times.” Both of those statements have been repeated countless times in commercials — but neither is accurate.

Politicians love their strippers
A funny Jay Leno quote from JokeADay:
Not long ago the Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously to ban lap dancing everywhere in L.A..
Well, they can forget about us getting another Democratic convention in this town.
I Think I’m Going To Vomit
I made the mistake of downloading and watching the video of the beheading of the American in Iraq. There’s no way in hell I’m going to host that video here, because the bandwidth usage would be immense, but if anybody wants a RealVideo version of the full video (approx 5.5 megs) to host on your site, e-mail me (I don’t want to bog down this server as I host clients on it). But trust me, you don’t want to watch it. I knew it would be bad, but nothing quite as bloody and as graphic as what I saw.
Now why don’t we find the f**kers who did this?
Repetitive Tasks Suck
I just crimped off my 12th ethernet cable to replace some of the aging crappy wiring here at the office. Thank frickin’ god I’m done now. Once I figure out what’s wrong with my boss’s printer (my guess is user error), activate the rest of the network outlets in the building, and finish updating my backup server, life will be good.
What’s an RSS feed, and why should you care?
Shannon asked recently about RSS Feeds, what they are, how to use them, etc… . I didn’t have a good article to send her to until I found a brilliantly written 12-part article flagged in my RSS reader that discussed what RSS/Webfeeds are, how they work, how you subscribe to them and more. So if you have any questions about RSS, I’d start with that article.
My Hard Drive Runs a Little Warm
Maybe I should try the deep-freeze method to cool it down?
It could never happen
You may or may not have seen 10.5 over the weekend. I don’t get NBC very well at my house, though I probably wouldn’t have watched it anyway. Basically the premise was that a gigantic earthquake tears apart the West coast, destroying stuff, etc… . It made a pile of people unnecessarily scared when most of the mini-series was complete and utter crap.
Pac Manhattan
Pac-Manhattan is a large-scale urban game that utilizes the New York City grid to recreate the 1980’s video game sensation Pac-Man. This analog version of Pac-man is being developed in NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications graduate program, in order to explore what happens when games are removed from their “little world” of tabletops, televisions and computers and placed in the larger “real world” of street corners, and cities.
A player dressed as Pac-man will run around the Washington square park area of Manhattan while attempting to collect all of the virtual “dots” that run the length of the streets. Four players dressed as the ghosts Inky, Blinky, Pinky and Clyde will attempt to catch Pac-man before all of the dots are collected.
Using cell-phone contact, Wi-Fi internet connections, and custom software designed by the Pac-Manhattan team, Pac-man and the ghosts will be tracked from a central location and their progress will be broadcast over the internet for viewers from around the world.
Another Productivity Killer
A nice, short, fast, exciting Road Rage Flash Game. Don’t spend too much time at work with this.
