What happens when you throw random audio at Google Voice’s transcription service? You get some really funny translations, with my favorite being how it translates The Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme, with somebody brilliantly setting it to music (probably the funniest thing I’ve seen on Redit). Howard Beale’s “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take this any more!” rant comes across pretty hilariously, too
Add The Konami Code To Your Web Site
Any old-school NES gamer will know all about the Konami code. Contra and Gradius were both a pain in the butt without the code. Apparently there are a bunch of sites that have easter eggs if you use the Konami Code on the site, and now there’s an easy way to add the cheat code to your site.
I Just Can’t Stop Watching This
Give is a bit to load (what is people’s obession with large GIF files?), but I just don’t know how this guy doesn’t crack his head open (mirrored the image below, should the link go down).
Time Killer For The Evening
Neon Maze is an addicting (and frustrating) but fun little game.
We All Have These Kinds Of Photos At Home
But I don’t think anything I have at home or at my parent’s home is nearly as bad as anything on AwkwardFamilyPhotos.com.
The MPAA Has Lost Their Mind
You just can’t make this stuff up….
The Electronic Frontier Foundation’s Fred von Lohmann sez, “Hearings for the DMCA triennial rulemaking are going on this week in DC, where the educational community is asking for an exemption to rip DVDs to take clips for classroom use. The MPAA responded with a video showing how to camcord (!) movies from a flat screen monitor, arguing that educators and students should do this instead of ripping DVDs. In the words of media literacy researcher Martine Courant Rife, that’s like typing up a quote from a book, taking it outside, chiseling the words in a rock, photographing the rock, scanning the photo, and running OCR on it. And for what?”
There’s even a video of the MPAA showing how to record a TV.
Engadget also has some hilarious comments
It should also be noted that they are allowing audio to be used in the classroom so long as it is recorded from another source using a Talkboy.
If you don’t remember what a Talkboy was, read up.
Seriously, these guys are nuts.
If A Cop Would’ve Caught Him…
…Ferris Bueller would’ve been in a heap of trouble.
If You Look Really Close, There’s A Hot Chick — and Waldo
OK, I don’t know about Waldo, but I’m sure he’s in one of these buildings in Vancouver (and apparently there is some hot looking woman and other fun stuff, too).
Gigapixel images are fun to explore. One of my favorite (which you’ve probably seen) was from the Obama inaugural address, as it’s heavily notated.
(Updated: Deleted the duplicate post — that was dumb.)
Windows 7’s Highly-Touted “XP Mode” Sounds Cool…
…but when actually tested, it’s really clunky. Nevermind that it only works on certain Intel CPUs that support Intel VT-x (no idea if Microsoft will implement support for AMD-V).
Time Killer For The Day
With 24 castles to destroy and only a trebuchet as your weapon, can you destroy them all?
