For some reason, my .htaccess file has been owned by root, so I can’t edit it. So if you go to www.utterlyboring.com without the trailing slash my image-protection will kick in. I wanted to go in and fix that, but it’s getting blocked. Needless to say, if you’re having image troubles, just ignore them for a bit. Thanks :-).
Jack Ass dies
The former Robert Craft, the man who changed his legal name to Jack Ass in 1997 and founded the Hearts Across America campaign that encouraged people to put up big red “healing hearts” along highways, has himself died. This is the same guy who sued MTV for defamation of character a while back.

Thought nobody would know about your penis enlarger pill purchases?
A security flaw at a website operated by the purveyors of penis-enlargement pills has provided the world with a depressing answer to the question: Who in their right mind would buy something from a spammer?
An order log left exposed at one of Amazing Internet Products’ websites revealed that, over a four-week period, some 6,000 people responded to e-mail ads and placed orders for the company’s Pinacle herbal supplement. Most customers ordered two bottles of the pills at a price of $50 per bottle.
That’s some serious cash, and the number one reason spam will never go away: While it annoys us all beyond belief, it still makes money for folks.

Yet another example of REALLY bad navigation online
Lian-Li, which makes great computer cases, unfortunately has really hard to navigate categories. Too much Flash is a bad thing.
RIAA’s tactics are going to bite them in the ass
If you didn’t already know, the RIAA (your favorite organization and mine) is suing everybody and their dog for sharing files online. Their tactics are bound to backfire. They’re already being counter-sued, and users are, generally, just ignoring the RIAA. The EFF is fighting for user’s rights, writing up guides on how to avoid getting sued. New versions of Kazaa Lite K++ block MPAA and RIAA IP blocks so you can share files without (hopefully) them finding out about it as easily, and you can even block them from coming to your site.
So is this hurting the RIAA more than it’s helping them? Hell yes.
