Google adds new features

It’s beefed up Froogle, and it’s also added a search by number feature that lets you directly enter UPS tracking numbers, FedEx tracking numbers, U.S. patent numbers, FAA airplane registration numbers and FCC equipment IDs. For weather conditions at U.S. airports, just enter the three letter airport code, followed by the word airport — for example, “den airport.” Full story.

Down the line, I’d love to see them implement these features.

Your guide to Microsoft Bob

You young’uns out there may not know what MS Bob is, but it was Microsoft’s failed attempt at putting a pretty face on Windows 3.1 and Windows 95. And boy was it ugly, clunky, and crap — that was later implemented in Windows XP. I remember reading somewhere (can’t remember where) that before they were married, Melinda, Bill Gates’ wife, was the lead developer on the “Bob” project. And that’s where they met, and fell in love.

You can read into that how ever you want. Thanks to Neil for the link.

James Brown, the government official?

Secretary of State Colin Powell has unofficially appointed James Brown the U.S. Secretary of Soul and Foreign Minister of Funk. Damn that’s funny stuff.

Still reminds me of that Eddie Murphy SNL Skit where he danced around in a speedo, acting like James Brown.

Snowglobe with a god complex

Woman eats junk food in her sleep

Apparently there’s a disorder like sleep walking where this woman will get up, go to her fridge, pig out, and not remember it in the morning. She eats very well during the day, but still has a hard time controlling her weight (at one point tipping 260 pounds). Full story.

Horny French Guys

Don’t worry, this is safe for work, despite the title. This is one of the most entertaining videos I’ve seen in a long time. Thanks to Chris for the link.

A Whodunit for the Digital Age

My wife and I like to watch a good mystery on TV (we catch Hercule Poirot on A&E whenever we can), and when I’m laid up next week, I think I might dive into this: A mystery through a series of emails, instant messenger, and Web pages (as explained in A Whodunit for the Digital Age).
