Blogger Meetup Tonight

I, unfortunately, won’t be able to make it, but there’s a Central Oregon blogger meetup tonight at 6:00PM at the Cascade Lakes Brewing Company Lodge on the West Side of Bend, just down the street from the Bulletin‘s building. Rumor has it they have some pretty dang good grub and beer there, as well as a few pool tables. I know Simone, Jon, Dane, and Kasey will be there, at the very least, but, as you can see, there are a pile of bloggers now on my Central Oregon blogroll (right column) so, really, you all should be coming, too (heck, even some LiveJournal folks might make things entertaining).

If there are any Central Oregon bloggers out there who want to keep up on stuff like this via e-mail, we generally will discuss these kinds of things on our mailing list, so feel free to sign up (but understand I reserve the right to boot your sorry butt off the list if you don’t actually run a blog).

It’s Election Time

And suddenly the U.S. is closer to finding Osama. My guess is he’ll suddenly show up in U.S. custody just before election day, and Bush will win because of it (they’re probably already holding him in Guantanamo).

I’m A Racist

Apparently I’m racist because I didn’t root for the over-paid, low-talent, egotistical hacks on the U.S.A. Olympic basketball team.

Darwin Prevails

50-year-old man decides to take a shortcut to work. Shortcut to work involves climbing over a razor-wire fence. Man slices artery. Man dies. Idiot.

Another Great Gmail Hack

I mentioned GmailFS before, but this actually makes it pretty dang easy, too. gmcp (gmail copy) is a simple tool to use gmail as a backup system. It’s a Perl script so, in theory, it could run on Windows with some work, but it’d just be far easier if somebody would just make a Windows program to do this stuff. Anybody listening? That’s One Way To Survive The Storm

Since county officials wouldn’t listen to his pleas for a storm shelter, one Florida resident, prepping for Hurricane Frances, dug a hole, and lived in aburied a U-Haul trailer filled with supplies.
