You do what Garry Newman — creator of Garry’s Mod — did and create a built-in error on pirated versions that lets everybody know you stole it.

Anybody Need A Graphics Designer?
I just put the finishing touches on my sis-in-law’s Web site. She’s a stupidly-talented illustrator and graphics designer (she designed the site, I coded it, for better or for worse). She’s graduating from George Fox in a couple weeks, plans on coming back to Bend (can’t stand the Valley), and is looking for work. She has a pretty varied portfolio, and is one of the most efficient workers I’ve seen. She’d prefer full-time work, but I’m sure she’s open to some individual projects.
If you want to get in touch with her, or want a personal recommendation, let me know.

We Cancelled Our Cable Because Of Crap Like This
This is what’s happening to TLC (and many other channels, for that matter):
From kottke, Fake shows from the video: 12 Wives, 12 Problems; Dwarf Hoarders; Uterus Cannon; and Hasty Home Surgery. Real TLC shows: 19 Kids and Counting; Strange Sex; Extreme Couponing; and I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant.

I’d really love to virtualize the entire server infrastructure here (about 10 servers, total), but don’t have the hardware to run 10 virtualized Windows servers with any sort of decent speed (and I have a feeling converting live systems easily to images with minimal downtime would be a pain in the butt as well).

Whoops — Woman Knocks Out Entire Country’s Internet
<sexist remark>Leave it to a woman to kill off an entire country’s internet access…</sexist remark>
An elderly Georgian woman was scavenging for copper to sell as scrap when she accidentally sliced through an underground cable and cut off internet services to all of neighbouring Armenia, it emerged on Wednesday.
The woman, 75, had been digging for the metal not far from the capital Tbilisi when her spade damaged the fibre-optic cable on 28 March.
She also managed to kill off some of the Internet in large parts of Georgia and Azerbaijan as well. Full story.

The Pick ’em Is Over!
First off, sorry I didn’t get this posted last night. I was drained after a long day of work and rehearsals, I missed the game, and didn’t even know who won until this morning. Sounds like I didn’t miss much of a game anyway.
As mentioned last week, the 2011 Pick ’em wouldn’t be fully decided until the final day. Thanks to UConn’s underwhelming win (Butler shot under 19% shooting, UConn was under 35% shooting), bojack got knocked down to third place, “TeamTopflite” has won the tournament with “windy wandle” getting second place, and bojack taking third. The final scores have been posted.
I’ll be getting in touch with all the winners this week. Per the rules, you have two weeks to get back to me, other wise the prizes go to the next person on the list. Make sure your email address it visible on the tournament member page otherwise I have no idea how to verify you are who you say you are.
A big thanks again to our prize providers, for which this tournament wouldn’t exist without them:
and Tyler (who didn’t have a web site to link to)
