I’ve never been a big chat room guy, but based on the few experiences I’ve had with them (back in my Compuserve days), this is a pretty good real-life representation:
Anybody Want To Make A Trip To The New Parking Garage Downtown?
Bring your Post-It notes: we really need to do this to a car down there.
TV Audiences Are Getting Fragmented
TV execs are obviously worried about the multitude of media options out there, and they probably don’t sleep better when they get stats that show that the #1 show last week was not CSI, Deal Or No Deal, or anything like that, but was the CBS’s NFL Post Game show.
Photoshop and Graphics Design Link Dump
In an attempt to clean out some links here are some good ones that I’ve got sitting around:
- Photoshop Pop Art Tutorial
- Colorize Black and White Photographs
- MS Paint Masterpieces — not to be confused with MS Paint Porn (NSFW).
- Wonderful logos and the logic behind them.
- Automatic Image Tagging and Indexing (amazing technology).
- Typefaces nobody gets fired for using
- Phototouching before and after shots (as well as another portfolio of image manipulation)
- Pin-up calendar with girls made out of typography (NSFW).
- Designing a Logo of Letters
- Added…Antiquing Digital Images in Photoshop
More to come if I find them.
Update on 1/17/07:More for ya…
Just In Case You Needed To Be Told…
…what you post online can generally come back to haunt you if you’re not careful.
Congrats Boise State!
Fiesta Bowl: Boise State 43, Oklahoma, 42 in overtime on a gutsy two-point conversion. Congrats to the Boise State Broncos on a gritty well-played game and hopefully this victory will put more pressure on folks to get rid of the BCS. And anything that keeps aggravating Oklahoma even more after losing to Oregon is always good (and yes, I know Oregon got thumped by BYU — I never said Oregon was a better team, just that I don’t like Oklahoma).
Update: Below the jump is a video of the last few minutes of the game, including overtime.
Parenting At Its Finest
I really hope the mom gets thrown in jail for a long time this…
Drivers swerved cars and trucks into other lanes to avoid a 3-year-old boy, wearing only a diaper and T-shirt, who was playing along a busy highway after wandering away from home while his mother slept, police said.
[…]
Police said they traced the toddler to an apartment at a nearby complex, where they found his mother, Nancy Dyer asleep in a filthy apartment and his 2-year-old sister eating spaghetti off the floor.
Dyer, 33, was arrested on two counts of child neglect and remained in custody Sunday, officials said.
Senior State Trooper Cedric Merritt said that when Dyer was told of her son’s activities, she responded: “Oh, he got out again.”
Two words: White Trash. Poor kids — I’m sure they’ll end up with a much better mommy and daddy now.
Be Wary Of Cheap Computer Parts For Sale Locally
A couple of local computer shops were broken into over the weekend. The culprit hasn’t been caught yet, so if you are approached by anybody offering to sell you cheap parts, be very wary and call the Bend Police Department (or if you’d like, email me and I can tell you if it’s indeed a proper price for the item or if you should be suspicious).
I don’t know the folks at Click and Fix, but I do know the folks at PHD Computers, having bought quite a bit of stuff from them over the years. They’re a wholesaler here in town, and have probably more inventory than most. But their stuff all has barcode labels that they adhere to the packages, so if you see a unusual barcode label or a spot where a label has obviously been removed (usually on front of the package), call the police.
Is Russia Now Part Of New York State?
The RIAA is seeking $150,000 for each of the 11 million songs AllofMP3 allegedly pirated.
[…]
The companies behind the claim, which include the major record labels Arista Records LLC, Warner Bros. Records Inc., Capitol Records Inc. and UMG Recordings Inc., filed the suit in a New York federal court claiming that “…Mediaservices’ sites sell millions of songs by their artists without paying them ‘a dime’ for the right to do so.”
And quoting the AllofMP3 blog (which is a dirt cheap way to buy MP3s, if you haven’t already seen it):
An attempt by the major record labels to use a U.S. court to as part of its campaign against AllofMP3.com is imprudent.
AllofMP3 understands that several US record label companies filed a lawsuit against Mediaservices in New York. This suit is unjustified as AllofMP3.com does not operate in New York. Certainly the labels are free to file any suit they wish, despite knowing full well that AllofMP3.com operates legally in Russia.
In the mean time, AllofMP3.com plans to continue to operate legally and comply with all Russian laws.
The RIAA is just a bunch of greedy bastards who don’t give a rip about the artists (who already make just pennies on the price of CDs and digital sales). I really wish I could order some RIAA toilet paper and wipe my bum with those nitwits.
I Can’t Believe I Missed This Movie
But apparently so did everybody else, as it only made $30 at the domestic box office during its theatrical run. And no, that’s not a typo — it made $20 on opening weekend.
