They can keep him, as far as I’m concerned. Full Story.

Teens Fined For Being Nice
Leave it one grumpy lady to ruin everybody’s fun.
A Colorado judge ordered two teen-age girls to pay about $900 for the distress a neighbor said they caused by giving her home-made cookies adorned with paper hearts.
[…]
The girls baked cookies as a surprise for several of their rural Colorado neighbors on July 31 and dropped off small batches on their porches, accompanied by red or pink paper hearts and the message: “Have a great night.”
Nevermind that all the neighbors thought it was very sweet, and sent letters to the judge that thanked the girls for their kindness. Idiots.
It’s Prison, Not A Luxury Resort
Deprived of their flat-screen TVs, mobile phones, pizza deliveries and long visits from lovers, inmates at Mexico’s top security prison complained on Monday they are being treated “like dogs.” Full Story. Thanks Cheryl for the link.
Idiot For The Day
I’m really disappointed that this two-year-old that accidently discharged a .357 magnum didn’t shoot the homeowners for letting the gun be that accessible in the first place. Sadly, no charges are going to be filed against the idiot homeowner.
PG-Rated Sopranos
A&E is betting $195 million that the PG-rated versions they’re going to air of the show will be every bit as good as the uncensored ones on HBO. Full Story.
After they’re sanitized, they’ll probably only be 15-minutes long, so you could watch every episode made in a couple days.
Useless Image Captcha
You’ve probably seen those image captchas that make it so that you have to type in a code from an image before you can submit information on a form. For example, some people have implemented this MovableType plugin to block bots from submitting comment forms. It’s effective against comment spam, but screws with accessibility.
Anyhow, I generally don’t have a problem with them, but this one I saw on Register.com’s Whois Page (you have to put a URL in the field before you can see it) is nearly impossible to translate:

Am I the only one that has a hard time reading that? I couldn’t actually get through that one, so I had to cancel and try it again with a more readable captcha. The rest of them looked a bit better (and the only reason I was using Register.com’s Whois is because the domain was registered there and I wanted to get as much info as I could), but they’re still much harder to read than the typical captcha.
Only On eBay…
…would somebody spend $20,000 on a snowball or $5,200 on a half-eaten banana. Granted, the bids were probably fake, but idiots just the same. Thanks Jenn (Barney’s niece) and Susan for these links.
Tsunamis Bring Out The Crackheads
As much as I’m not a fan of George W. Bush, there are some nutjobs that are blaming him for the death toll. See Exhibit A and Exhibit B. But it’s not Bush’s fault: If you listen to these other nimrods, it’s all the fault of gays and lesbians.
Morons. All of those folks. Anyway, speaking of the Tsunami, here’s some good scientific data on the whole thing, a story about how the animals escaped the tsunami, a pile of links from Boing Boing and how the disaster is going to affect cryptozoology. The New York Times has a great package of infographics, photographs, and more. They’re still having a hard time getting inland and to some of the most devastated areas where there could be tens of thousands more bodies. And we could’ve saved a lot of this if we just follow these directions on how we can build a tsunami early warning system in one month. Here’s a good list of tsunami resources and good note on how the real news is getting distributed. If you really cared, there are some Starbucks that have been affected by this and they plan on donating all their sales from December 29th to disaster relief.
As it stands right now, the death toll stands at just about 150,000.
Corporate Stupidity
I only wish that if I got fired from a job that I’d get $1.3-million a year for the rest of my life.
Your Tax Dollars At Work
Apparently Missouri’s Jefferson City Correctional Center had quite the video game collection.
