The NCAA Tournament Is Over

We already knew that Eggar won and yoopers lost the pick ’em but we didn’t know who would take home 2nd place. After picking Kansas to win, Shadow Bird won the 2nd place prize. The spreadsheet has been updated with the final scores.

So the tournament is now over, and the pick ’em was a good time. Those of you who are due prizes need to either e-mail me from your Yahoo! account you used on the tournament page or you need to post your email in the messages area of the tournament page so I can contact you. If I don’t hear from the winners and loser by April 21st, I will be awarding the prizes to the next bracket on the list moving my way up and down the list until somebody takes the prizes.

Eggar Wins The UtterlyBoring.com ’08 NCAA Pick ’em

While there’s still one more game in the NCAA Tournament, the 2008 Pick ’em has a winner. Eggar came back from fourth place last week and picked both of today’s games, scoring enough points that he can’t lose Monday, no matter the outcome. Second place is still up in the air, depending on the outcome of Monday’s game (and there are prizes for second place, and more if first place doesn’t claim theirs). Like I’ve mentioned already, Fighting Yoopers won the t-shirt already,

For The First Time Ever, Four Number One Seeds in the Final Four

And it’s making for an interesting final weekend in the pick ’em. As it stands right now, Rusty In Portland is leading, but after crunching the numbers, there are six folks who are still in the running (full scores are here), depending on how the Final Four plays out next weekend.

Fighting Yoopers has already locked in the dummy prize because he/she is currently in last, and didn’t pick a single one of the Final Four teams (The Dren had the prize nearly wrapped up until one of his teams actually won today and made it to the Final Four). So if you’re reading this, Yoopers, contact me via the group tournament page, either by messaging the commisioner or by posting your e-mail address in a public message there so we can send your prize. If you don’t claim it by tournament’s end, it’ll go to the next person on the list.

Yahoo!’s Bonkered

The day 1, round 4 games ended earlier, but Yahoo! didn’t updated the scoring yet in the pick ’em. I’ll check again tomorrow morning and update the spreadsheet then.

Round 3 Is Over…

…and Rusty In Portland is holding on to the lead in the pick ’em. There is no chance for me to win at all right now, but this tournament certainly isn’t Rusty’s yet. If there are some upsets tomorrow and Memphis manages to win this weekend, it could move some other folks up to the top. We’ll just have to see how it goes (and remember this weekends games are worth five points), but here’s the scoring in the meanwhile.

NCAA Pick ’em Round 3 Day 1

We have a new leader in the pick ’em: Rusty in Portland. He’s been at the top or close the top the entire time, but there are a couple folks still very close behind.

The round-by-round scores are here.

The Dren is still dragging up the rear and looks like a lock for the t-shirt.

The First Weekend Is Over…

…and it appears we have a three-way tie for first place in the pick ’em. Things should start seperating a bit more next week as the games start getting higher point values. It looks like the Tasmanian Devils and The Dren are duking it out for dead last and the t-shirt. “shlid” isn’t eligible for the prize as she’s sleeping with the organizer (’tis my wife, who picked totally randomly, too).

NCAA Tournament Pick ’em Round 2 Day 1 Scoring

It’s the third day of the pick ’em and we now have a four-way tie at the top with eight folks within two points of the lead. It’s close, but we still have a lot of games to be played before a winner is declared.

NCAA Tournament Pick ’em Day 2 Results

There were some good upsets today, and we have a new leader in the pick ’em. Fighting Yoopers has taken the lead, having picked 26 of the last 32 games correctly. The spreadsheet’s been updating — now with pretty graphs.

Tournament Pick ’em Day 1 Results

Looks like after having several folks in the lead most of the day, we end the day with a single leader in the tournament pick ’em (and figures that it’s my boss’ kid). If you’re signed up for the group, you can see live stats here, otherwise, I’ve published a public results spreadsheet here. I’ll update it daily during the tournament.

There were some close calls for upsets today that would’ve put me close to the top, but instead I’m tied for 20th (only three points behind). The Ducks play tomorrow, so as long as they win, I don’t give a rip how my bracket turns out.
