Eggar Wins The UtterlyBoring.com ’08 NCAA Pick ’em

While there’s still one more game in the NCAA Tournament, the 2008 Pick ’em has a winner. Eggar came back from fourth place last week and picked both of today’s games, scoring enough points that he can’t lose Monday, no matter the outcome. Second place is still up in the air, depending on the outcome of Monday’s game (and there are prizes for second place, and more if first place doesn’t claim theirs). Like I’ve mentioned already, Fighting Yoopers won the t-shirt already,

The NCAA Tournament Is Over

We already knew that Eggar won and yoopers lost the pick ’em but we didn’t know who would take home 2nd place. After picking Kansas to win, Shadow Bird won…

Eggar says:

I sent multiple emails last year about my prizes and never got them!!! Now you want me to join again?

Jake says:

I’m going to paste the email I just sent you in reply to this here as well, Eggar:
I never received a single e-mail from you, and I apologize for that — what email address did you send it to? Maybe it didn’t get past my spam filters, I have no idea, and my logs don’t go back that far to check. This is supposed to be just a casual contest among locals, and the prizes — dinner for two at a restaurant in Bend, Oregon and a t-shirt and hat from a local pizza place, along with an Oregon ducks sweatshirt — were targeted to locals (though I open it up to everybody to play and have fun). If I would’ve gotten your email, I would’ve sent you your prize, but really, what would you have done with dinner in Central Oregon when you’re in New York? I didn’t know the people who I did end up giving the prizes to, so I’m not just out here to play with my friends.
This is meant as a FUN tournament pick ’em and most of the folks who are enter it know that coming in. Prizes are NOT their motivation — bragging rights generally is. In that same vein, I make NO money on my site. The ads there pay for the hosting of the site, that’s it, and I’m not out to make money on my site, and I’m certainly not out there to scam anybody. If you knew me at all, you’d know that. I’m way to casual of a guy to make it a point to go out there and screw people over.
And I have no way to fix this. I said on the final post for the tournament to post your email address on the Yahoo! Group Tournament page or to e-mail me from that account so I could verify it was the right person. I’m sorry, but I don’t know any other way to do it (but welcome your input).
