Stupidly Hard Game For The Day

A simple premise: you’ve given a hex color value along with two color swatches, and you need to pick which swatch goes with the displayed color value. I only managed to get seven points. I suck.

2GB and 4GB SD Card Reader Fix

This was driving me crazy. I was sitting here trying to copy my parents pictures from their trip to Thailand’s using my laptop’s built-in SD card reader (as I couldn’t find the cable to their camera). I had no trouble at all with their 256MB card, but their 2GB card wouldn’t work at all.

After hunting down new drivers and googling, trying to find solutions, I’m obviously not the only one that’s had this problem. I had actually installed the newest drivers, but it wasn’t I applied the registry tweaks here that I was actually able to get it to work.

So if you’re running into the same problem, that was the solution for me.

With Windows Vista Launching Soon…

…I’d like to see their marketing campaign top the commercials they had for Windows 95 (which, back in the day, were pretty darn impressive):

I Forgot How Hideous Windows 3.1 Was

Anybody remember the Hot Dog color scheme? Man that was ugly.

Game Evolution

I personally prefer the old-school, NES-era games, but it still is interesting how much games and characters have changed from the 4-bit to the current 32-bit days.

I Lost My Watch The Other Day

So does somebody want to buy me one of these to replace it? If you can read this (it’s in Japanese) there’s more info here, but it’s basically $134 which isn’t bad, really, for a 1GB flash drive/MP3 player/FM Radio and Transmitter/Watch.

This Is Going In The Toolkit

If you’re like me and do repairs and troubleshooting on computers that come from large companies like Dell and HP, you’ll notice that they all seem to come with a lot of crap installed — free trials, limited versions, etc… . This handy bit of software will help you get rid of the crap.

Microsoft Windows Link Dump

Had these links sitting in my box for a while here, decided to share them all at once.

Eudora Is Going Open Source

This should either really bug or please Eudora users (Simone, you out there?). If I used Eudora, I know it’d please me as it’d only improve the proejec.t

Qualcomm Inc. and Mozilla Corp. on Wednesday jointly announced that future versions of Eudora, Qualcomm’s long-running e-mail client, would be based on Mozilla’s open-source Thunderbird code. The move effectively puts an end to the proprietary Eudora, which launched in 1988 and once had a significant share of the e-mail software market.

Developers from both companies will work on Mozilla’s e-mail project, which will feed to Eudora and Thunderbird. The first open-source Eudora will release during the first half of 2007, said the pair.

Why Didn’t Anybody Think Of This Sooner?

This is one of the coolest inventions I’ve ever seen: A rechargeable AA battery with a built-in USB connecter that you can plug into any USB port to charge. Just flip back the tip and plug it in. Very nice, indeed.
