PC Magazine has a feature every year where they publish 101 Top Web sites in a variety of categories. Many of them I’ve already seen or heard of before, but there are still a lot gems here that I didn’t know about. I did notice, however, that there were a few sites listed that are owned by ZDNet/CNET, so it is a tad self-serving (though the sites they mention are good sites), but it’s still a good list.

Will They Be Wearing Kilts?
Since we can’t take care of Iraq on our own, the famed Scottish regiment that “beat Napoleon, beat the Kaiser and beat Hitler” is going to get sent over there. So where were these guys a while ago? Full Story.
Flying Lawnmower
This is obviously a fake video, but I know I laughed at it. Of course, I haven’t had enough caffeine today, so maybe that’s the problem.
OS X Running on a 68K Mac
It should take about a week to boot, but it’s getting there:
What next? I Wait. According to the developers, PearPC using generic emulation (the only option on a non-x86) runs “about 500 times slower” than the host CPU. Ouch. That makes for a 0.05MHz G3, at the best. That’s around 4000 times slower than the Athlon boots, and since that takes roughly 2 and a half minutes – I’m looking at at least 6.99 days. One week to boot!
Random Amazon Items
Say you’ve only got $10 to spend, and want a list of what you can get for (about) that price on Amazon. You now have a couple options:

The 5-Megapixel Cameraphone
Granted, it’ll probably take 5 years before we see this in the States, but it’s good to know that a good high-resolution camera phone finally exists.
Turn Off Any TV With A Keychain
If their Web site wasn’t down, I’d order one of these (OK, they’re probably expensive, but I’d at least like to check it out). It’s a key-chain attachment that contains just one button. When you press that button, it spends over a minute flashing out 209 different codes to turn off TVs, the most popular brands first (generally, the codes for turning off a TV are the same as turning one on, so this will work for that, too). Full story.
Medical Records in Your Wallet
Starting at $149, Redi-Records will create a business-card-sized CD that you can carry with you that will contain you complete medical history, the idea being that if you’re in an accident that doctors can boot the CD and find out what drugs you’re allergic to, what medical specialists you see, medial power of attorney, etc. Thanks to the Raw Feed for the link.
I Bet I’d Be Good At This
I’m not much of a game player, but I bet I’d be pretty good at a game that was controlled with a pair of bongos:
For years, video games have been governed by simple rules of control: Press one button to do this, press another button to do that. Now, Nintendo shatters that model by introducing the most novel video game accessories ever: bongos. Yes, bongos! Donkey Konga(TM), now available exclusively for Nintendo GameCube(TM), combines the new DK Bongos controller with well- known musical selections to foster a wild, clapping, tapping and laughing party atmosphere. Players compete by thumping their bongos to the beat of songs like “What I Like About You,” “Whip It” and “All the Small Things.” The better your rhythm, the better your score.”

Why I Need “Star Wars: Battlefront”
The opportunity to kill Jar-Jar Binks is one I don’t think I could ever pass up.
