You Want To Be A Consultant?

Print up this great guide from somebody who has been a software consultant one for most of their life. It’s a must-read for anybody who is considering going into technology consulting.

The Best Of Freeware

I’ve always been a sucker for good freeware, and generally support freeware programs that I get a ton of use out of. I probably have a couple dozen freeware programs on my system here that I use all the time, but after digging through this wonderfully sorted collection of freeware, I can see myself downloading some of these and replacing the pirated borrowed software that I have on this system.

My Wife Wants A Kitchenaid Mixer

If I’m going to spend a bunch of money to buy one, I think I should see if I can buy her this one.

Blog Theme Songs

This guy’s blog has a theme song, and really, every blog should have a theme song. If I had to pick one song to represent me and/or my blog, it would have to be Stevie Ray Vaugn’s Rude Mood which is and entirely instrumental ripping guitar shuffle that will make anybody smile and want to dance. Find the song online somewhere, if you don’t believe me.

What would you consider your theme song? Comment here. Original link via Waxy.

Amazing Basketball Shot — Twice!

This guy manages to make a 99-foot basket at the buzzer to win a college game (with video). And then does it again on command for a local TV crew (with video). It takes him a few attempts the 2nd time around, but it’s still amazing he was able to do it again.

That’s My Kind Of Blog

A blog dedicated entirely to hamburgers. Now if we can just convince the guy to come to central Oregon and have a Pilot Butte burger — as long as he does it before 3:00PM.

Thanks to TheDren for the link.

A Fun Experiment

Somebody sent a camera across the country via the post office that instructed the postal workers who handled the camera to take photos with it. The camera arrived a week later with 24 good pictures on it.

WD-40 Has So Many Uses

Why Pixar Rules

“We don’t make movies for kids. We make movies for adults, actually ourselves. Kids are born intelligent, and there’s no good reason to make dumbed-down entertainment for them.” Right on.

New York Times Link Generator

For those of you who have ever considered linking (or e-mail links) to stories in the New York Times but worry about it disappearing into its archives never to be seen again, worry no more. The form on that link will generate a non-decaying link to New York Times stories and when folks click on one of these links, they don’t have to sign into the NYT site, and they won’t have to pay a fee to read the story, even if it’s in the archives.

Now I just need to go through my archives for NYT stories and see if any of them can be salvaged. Link via BB.
