Build your own lightsaber

Ok, so I’m a Star Wars freak. I hope to make my own fan film in the next 6 months, so I’ve been learning film making techniques, and building lightsabers.

Here’s me disciplining my dog.

If you wanna learn how to do this yourself, you need Photoshop, and this tutorial. Skip the part about Premiere.

Riddle’s Site

If you’re a riddle/brain-teaser hound, this is your site. The answers are buried in the forums on the site, so it makes you think about the answers. There are probably a few thousand riddles there.

When it hits the fan

What a fun little waste of time. Grabbed from 3bruces.com:

The object is to propel a mound of fecal matter with your ping-pong paddle so that it connects with the rotary air circulation device. Once you get some practice, try spring one off the stapler or landing one in the coffee cup. Even better yet, go for a “Mac attack” and ricochette one off the iMac screen into the blades. They did a fairly good job of creating a sound effects for the moment when the caca hits the old ventilador too – so how can you lose?

The game can be played here.

Skin your search engine

While I prefer Google for most of my searches (much like Gregg who told you about Froogle), there are many folks out there who prefer All The Web/Fast, and there are some things you can do with ATW that you can’t do with Google (MP3/FTP search comes to mind). One neat feature is the ability to skin the site. They recently had a contest, and you can view the winners here. I prefer Retro-Active.

A Lord of the Rings encyclopedia

Everything you’ve ever needed/wanted to know about the Lord of the Rings or other works by J. R. R. Tolkien can probably be found at The Encyclopedia of Arda. A very well done, detailed site.

Saturday Night Live Archive

Great site for the SNL Fan. Too bad they don’t have videos of the sketches and commercials.

How they Created the Weapons and Armor for the Lord of the Rings

This is just a really facinating article. This article describes the processes of creation and stories behind the weapons and armor of the Lord of the Rings. Really cool read, with great pictures.

The King of Spamming Gets Spammed — big time!

This is just the coolest thing I’ve seen in a LONG time. You may have heard about the millionaire spammer, probably from this Slashdot story. This guy was making millions of dollars spamming folks, and didn’t seem to have any problems with it.

Well, the Slashdot community (probably the LAST group of computer geeks you would really want to anger), rallied, grouped up, and dug up all they could about the guy, included by not limited to his e-mail addresses, snail-mail address, lawyer’s e-mail/snail mail address, phone numbers, directions to his house, satellite photos of his home, etc … . And then they proceeded to subscribe or add him to EVERY junk mail list (e-mail, snail mail, and otherwise) they could get their hands on.

And, for some reason, the spammer is mad (follow up SlashDot story) that he’s getting inundated with snail mail at his $750,000 home, saying “These people are out of their minds. They’re harassing me.”

Sorry, bud, but you were the one out of your mind to p**s off a well-organized group of computer geeks who know you couldn’t handle your own medicine. I hope you drown in all the mail you get.

The Internet’s 20 Worst

While I would never probably admit that I agree with anything on a site titled “Right Wing News”, I do agree with this article: “The 3rd Annual 20 Worst People, Places, And Things On The Internet For 2002“.

One Word

This site is pretty dang cool. Click on the “write” link, click go, and write for 60 seconds on whatever random word shows up on your screen. The entries have been pretty cool. It’s a pretty cool little game. Found via b3ta.
