Google Street View Is Now In Bend

I had wondered how long it would be before it came here, but it looks like it’s now here. I don’t know exactly when it got here, but it’s here, and it covers a good chunk of the major highways around Central Oregon (it doesn’t appear that streets around the city of Bend have gotten much coverage).

Google Maps is being a bit clunky today, so I can’t really see where things are mapped out in Bend, but if you find anything fun on there, email me a screenshot. But based on the little bit I’ve looked at, it was winter time when the camera came through as there is snow on the ground in some places.

It looks like it’s only the highways at this point.

It’s too bad Google didn’t use the high resolution cameras like in Europe, Seattle and DC as seen here:

Well it was sunny on their time out Hwy. 20 by Pilot Butte.
But drat, their shiny 360 camera bal musta been fogged/smudged looking to right when they traveled the parkway, Hwy. 20 out by Sisters, etc. – look right and it’s like a foggy/dirty window;-/ Too bad, between that and winter clouds no wonderful Mt. Bachelor/smokestack view from the parkway etc.
Still… it’s cool though;-)

I checked the street view just two or three weeks ago, and it stopped on 26 and 97 up around Madras. They’ve add the views through Bend and southward just in the past few weeks.

A Street with a View 🙂
(P.S. Hope your family feels better.)

I live in los angeles and google street view is super annoyingly still not on my street. I think it might be the only street in the world that doesn’t have street view.

Google Expands Central Oregon’s Street View Coverage

I mentioned nearly a year ago how Central Oregon had a limited bit of coverage. Their coverage was primarily to major highways 97 and 20 through Central Oregon, but it…
