Can’t Say I See This Working Out Well

Cookie Monster wants to host SNL:

It’s Free, So Why Don’t You Come?

I’m way behind on this, and usually am plugging this far earlier, but with the Thanksgiving holiday and a bunch of personal and professional projects, I’ve been very behind. But as usual, here’s my cheap plug for this weekend’s concerts:

The Cascade Winds Symphonic Band will present the first concert of their 2010-2011 season, under the baton of music director Dan Judd, December 5, 2:00 p.m. at Summit High School auditorium. This concert is free of charge, no tickets are required, is open to the public and suitable for all ages. Music includes the seasonal favorite, Sleigh Ride, by Leroy Anderson, as well as pieces by Malcolm Arnold, Percy Grainger, Sam Hazo, Robert Russell Bennett, and others. The Winds program of band standards, new pieces, marches and holiday music will appeal to a wide range of audience members. For more information visit www.cascadewinds.org or call 541-593-1635. Summit High School is located at 2855 NW Clearwater Drive, Northwest Crossing, Bend.

I’ve also created a Facebook event if you would like to confirm there as well.

Hope to see some of you there!

Reading Material

I wouldn’t expect much in the way of posting over the weekend, as I plan on unplugging and spending time with family as much as possible. That, and I’ll be playing with my new phone that Best Buy gave me (long story for some other time, but Best Buy and the Geek Squad did the right thing when their repair company FUBARed my repair, and I applaud them). Meanwhile, here’s some fun to keep you entertained until I get back:

Everybody have a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving, and don’t hurt yourself on Black Friday (I’ll be staying home, thankyouverymuch).

Meanwhile, In Seattle…

We obviously have a huge pile of white stuff in Sunriver, but when Seattle gets just an inch of snow, things get stupid.

Great discussion on this mess on Reddit.

Everybody else surviving the weather/roads? I know it’s taken me a lot longer to get to/from work (took me an hour to get to Wal-Mart from Sunriver yesterday), and I’m still seeing a metric crapload of folks (mostly out-of-towners) flying down the road when they shouldn’t be. Saw several folks in the ditch this morning on the highway at angles and depths that would say they were going much too fast, and it’s hard for me to feel sorry for them (they weren’t hurt, just stuck out in the deep).

The Ultimate Tool To Boost Your Productivity

Seriously, this blog has some of the best tips to get you on your way to being more productive at work.

Grandmas Gone Wild

This is what happens when Grandma discovers Photo Booth:

One Thing I Miss About Not Having Cable

I don’t miss the large bill that comes with having cable TV, but I do miss watching Top Gear and seeing crazy stuff like this:

Of course, TopGear has a ton of videos on YouTube so I’ll just get my fix this way.

Anybody Up For Some Calvinball?

Calvin and Hobbes launched 25 years ago today. Reddit is discussing their memories about the comic and I agree: I never looked forward to reading the comics like I did then.

If you want to go back and check them out or find your favorite comic, there’s a great Calvin and Hobbes search engine. The complete collection will always be on my wish list

And Don’t forget: tigers will do anything for a tuna fish sandwich.

Time Killer For The Day

Not a really long game, but you can still kill off a good bit of time with Blow Things Up. Play it after the jump.

Closer To The Truth

Careless Blazers Goofing Around With Basketball Shatter Greg Oden Into Thousand Pieces. Quoting the story:

PORTLAND, OR—Although Portland Trail Blazers coach Nate McMillan has repeatedly warned his team about using the basketball around “valuable” and “really fragile” center Greg Oden, several players accidentally knocked the seven-footer to the floor with a carelessly thrown ball Thursday and shattered him into a thousand pieces.
