Hi-here’s a real story that needs to get out there: My step-dtr’s bad behaviors were escalating and after trying everything from numerous heart to heart talks, taking one electrical item away at a time, groundation, extra chores we found ourselves out of options. Then she had another bad behavior act followed w/response of lack of concern for consequences. My husband and I decided to give her swats. The next day she did not come home from school, moved to her Moms (house of complete freedom and neglect) and reported her spanking to the police. Now, 7 months later my husband is facing trial and up to 1 year in jail for 4th degree assault because the report states “a slight bruise consistent with a belt”. The DA indicated he wants to make an example out of my husband. Did I mention in the state of Oregon it is legal to spank your child with a belt. Meanwhile, my stepdtr’s new freedom and lack of discipline have allowed changes such as smoking cigarettes, marijuana, sexual activity and body piercings… How do I protect our rights, how do I protect my step-dtr?!
