Don’t Worry, She Won’t Be An Anorexic Waif

So apparently my daughter talked to The Bulletin for their weekly Kids In The Hall, where they ask school kids a question. This week, they were apparently at my daughter’s school, and asked her what she wanted to be for Halloween. Her answer? “I’m going to be a model, because my cousin and I decided to both be models.” (link behind The Bulletin paywall). She says “model” but it’s more like “Glamour Girl” (at least that’s what we discussed before), as while my daughter is built like a model (tall and skinny, despite eating like a horse), encouraging her to be a model is something we’re just not going to do. She’s eight-years-old, for cripes sakes — thankfully she doesn’t know the difference (and is smart enough to realize the problem if she did). Same thing with her cousin. They’re both smart, bright, kids who eat plenty and will both do something great with their lives, thankyouverymuch.

But thanks for the concerns sent my way today. Now can you get on with your life and quit being so concerned about my parenting skills? Get a hobby, folks. Thanks.

I actually saw that in the paper today. I thought it interesting the Bulletin concluded the column with your daughter’s comment. Like they were trying to *say* something by it’s placement. I thought it was an original choice of costume.
By the way, my 6-year old daughter is also tall and skinny and I’m having a heck of a time finding 7/8 slim pants with a long enough inseam. Do you have the same trouble finding pants for your daughter? Do you have any that are too small for her that you’re looking to sell/barter?

Maybe she meant role model 🙂
ottaviano–Target sells a pretty good selection of pants that have a little elastic adjustment inside the waistline of their girls pants. Works swell.

@ l. ottaviano: Yes, we have trouble finding them, too. Target is decent, but we’ve had better luck at the Children’s Place in the Old Mill, and with coupons that you can get online or via postal mail, the prices are pretty good.

i think i’m going to be a model for halloween as well 🙂

JC Penney’s carries the adjustable waist, too… they also seem to have a decent selection of “slim” fit in the sizes you may need. I have an 8 year old who is finally outgrowing “6-x slim”!!
