Bend Pregnant “Man” Exclusive

Don’t get your hopes up — I don’t have it (like I’d want it anyway — my previous mention of the story was enough for me). But if you’re wondering about the full story, s/he’ll be on Oprah.

i’m not sure what the big deal is. dude was born a woman and has never had a sex change and is now preg-o. looks like a guy, but is very much a girl… what makes this news worthy?

lady says:

this is dumb! its a girl who had a sex change.. that doesnt make her a guy. Guys jus dont have kids. end of story

Kitty Tye says:

Exactly! Talk about “sensationalism journalism” -it’s unbelieveable that someone would consider this noteworthy news.
ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX and OPRAH what are you thinking?

Jessie says:

My concern is that this town, which I love and proudly call home, will be forever know for nothing but a blue guy and pregnant ‘man’.
When did we become freakier than Portland?!

Kitty Tye says:

Uh- what? I was born / raised and lived in Central Oregon well into my 40’s and have lived in Portland for the past 14 years. Central Oregon has more “freaks” per capita than Portland. I personally know of many, MANY lesbian nurses who work in a large medical facility in Bend. Do you consider them freaks too?

mimi says:

I would agree that this is no big deal, what with the involvement of three misguided women (Thomas/Traci, Nancy, and the female OB/GYN), except for my chilling thoughts as to the future of the child. Even if she’s born physically normal (if she’s lucky enough not to be affected by the hormone situation), what kind of life is she likely to have? How does one explain to a child that her father gave birth to her, but that on the other hand her natural father came from a sperm bank? The mind boggles.
I feel very sorry for the self-involved couple who decided on this idiotic course of action. I consider myself broadminded and liberal, but this is just beyond the oale.

Angelo says:

Heheh, reminds me of that old movie… “Junior” was named, i think… =D

You Knew It Had To Happen

“Bend Oregon: Home of the Pregnant Man” T-shirt: The t-shirts are being done by Flash Ink, a local screen printing company. They’re going to go on sale on Wednesday, are…

Nancy says:

This self-centered, media-addicted
couple should receive no attention
from any source. Period.

penelope says:

It isn’t the couple’s fault… maybe if America wasn’t a news hungry-freak out about anything slightly different than traditional values and norms society, this wouldn’t make the news. As for the future of the child, it will probably grow up with parents who love it more than a lot of nuclear families in America. Give me a break people, open up your minds just a smidge more and realize that gender is bendable, and that different is GOOD.

bisexual says:

i think its cool how he/she went though
so much trouble just to be gay she had
to get a sex change and every thing just
to be with the one she loves i think thats sweet only if every one was like that.
but people shoudnt judge people for who they like it wrong to judge people for the ones they love.

Guatemalan 20 year-old thinker says:

I completely share Ms. Penelope’s opinion. I would further add that, even though the motives under which this couple came together might be unusual (in the political-religious way of seeing the world that several theological weasels have cast upon the common masses), the motives for adopting a child shows a great sign of love for each-other and for life itself. Something your local society lacks of in a more-than-unfortunate and quite sad way, comparing it of course with the reasonable and ever so logical level which would eventually result in an almost immediate “world inner peace” event, (as impossible to the common man as it is painful to our own reality). I applaud this human being for standing up to the major public with his/her (?) head up high, though he might also be attempting to acquire some fame on the way, which in my opinion is harmless.
One more thing, Ms. Penelope I believe you have fallen into the common “American” mistake of referring to the United States of America as “America”, madam I encourage you to look up this word in any handy encyclopedia. It’s probably something you already know, it would result rather wiser, in my opinion, to acknowledge and be aware of such mistake. Just some positive feed back.

Guatemalan 20 year-old thinker says:

I used the term adopting as in “adopting something into your life” not as in “my mother adopted my brother”. I just know somebody will try to emphasize my whole post just on that (lol).
