Yes you read that right. There’s a pregnant man here in Bend and his name is Thomas Beatie. And he’s all over the frickin’ news, and has made international headlines.
Since I know jack squat about transgendered people and sex changes, I’m not going to comment because I’ll undoubtedly say something offensive and/or stupid without intending to do so. So there you go — I report, you comment.
Thus far, nobody’s been able to confirm if the story is a hoax or not, which I guess is my only concern. If anybody knows the guy, feel free to comment here. The story was originally reported in the Advocate by Thomas himself, lending a bit more to the conspiracy theory. But as long as the parents are loving and caring parents to the child, that’s all that matters to me — he’d still be a far better parent than so many deadbeat parents out there whose kids are raised by MTV, MySpace and a nanny.
Update at 7:35: Somebody suggested I check the local phone book and property tax records to see if these people exist. Since I’m sitting here staring a progress bars on a server here at the office (I’m here doing some server software upgrades and repartitioning), I decided to look. He’s not listed in the phone bok, but there is a Thomas and Nancy Beatie that own a home here in south Bend and have owned it for about a year and had an address in southeast Bend, according to Deschutes County property records.

If it’s true then fair play to him. Better to bring a child into the world where the parents are in a stable marriage than to a heroin-addicted hooker living in a trailer with 15 other kids by various different absent fathers.

First of all, this is a trans gender. He had the operations to make him look like a man, but the innards are that still of a woman. SO it reality this is not a man it is still a woman. I think that this is disturbing. It’s a joke to go and make everyone think ‘a man’ is pregnant. I think he’s using this as a publicity stunt to see about getting some money from ppl.
This isn’t a man having a baby…it’s a woman having a baby. This isn’t news…women have babies all the time.
I saw a segment on this individual on 20/20 Medical Mysteries last week. They just said it was an Oregon man and they interviewed a OBGYN that was not treating him. Uh, interesting!
I first read about this in the advocate and I think its really cool of him to do this for his kids and wife without caring what other closed minded people say. I am proud to live in oregon this is just another progressive move for oregon. I hope the delivery is safe for both baby and daddy! Congrats!!
Naturally this will be “a safe delivery for the daddy”– At best “HE” will be in the delivery room watching “HER” deliver a baby. At worst “HE” is a number on a file at a donor clinic…

This is only about two lesbians with one looking like a man, and the two people wanting to be viewed as a “married husband and wife,” and dad and mom to this innocent child that they’ve drug into their subculture with a twisted view of family.
“Tracy” is a deeply troubled female who needs counsel to help her deal with losing her mom and having no maternal guidance as she went through her teens. No wonder she went from an openly gay relationship with Nancy while in CA as an activist, and then saw a ticket to quick money by posing as a man having a baby. The DNA says pops is a female! And a self-serving media saw $$$.

Yeah, because this “man” has not actually had surgeries to make him a man, he is still a woman no matter how he feels. In regards to science he is a woman and has female organs. Which is quite ridiculous when it comes to doctors turning him down. This topic has been thrown way out of proportion by the media. Pregnant man?! wheres his testies?
