A Kentucky lawmaker wants to make anonymous Internet posting illegal. And the fines are $500 for the first offense, $1000 for each after that, levied towards the Website operator.
This site currently has 14,695 comments (which is a small amount compared to a site like Fark — which is based in Kentucky — that has millions), and I’d say a third of those are anonymous (as I believe on a site like mine, it fosters discussion and I believe in First Amendment rights in that regard). So if this law passed, I’d be responsible for about $4,898,000.
Needless to say, the bill would be hard to enforce, but I can’t say that I’d enjoy getting a bill for nearly $5 million.

What a blatantly stupid idea. Does the country of China come to mind when you hear stories like this? Because the Chinese government does this. Luckily it’s only a state representative, not a U.S. congressman.
