Ouch

Ever slept funky on your neck so that when you wake up in the morning the entire left or right half of your neck and shoulder hurts so bad you can’t move it much at all? That’s where I’m at right now, and wishing the advil would kick in here.

More blogging tomorrow if I can move properly, as I can barely look at my computer screen right now and I think I’m going to ditch work early because of it.

Update on 11/13: Finally can move my neck a bit better after a couple nights of strong drugs and a steady diet of Advil. Still a bit stiff, but can at least work, which I couldn’t do on Sunday (had to go home early).

Coming from someone with chronic back/neck problems: Advil is good… heat is better (moist heat if you can). Also, I finally switched to one of those memory foam/contoured pillows and have not had as many painful mornings. Just a suggestion 🙂

I have one of those memory foam contour pillows — didn’t help me last night, unfortunatey 🙁

I don’t get that from sleeping in a bad position, but I used to get that from having a cold draft on my neck when I slept.
We have one of those sand-filled wraps you heat in the microwave and then apply to sore areas. Hope you feel better soon.

Jake,
Deschutes Alternative Heathcare (On Revere). Rick and Marie. Having been there and done that, they get me rightback in the game.
Hope you feel better soon.

I’ve had the same issue several times over the years – off to the chiropractor that day, and try not to have too stressful a day at work (if possible), and all is good. If I can’t get into the chiro that day, when I get home from work I take pain killers and have a before-dinner nap to prevent the neck pain from creating a migraine. A good walk whenever you can fit one in, and/or a hot shower, are other alternatives that work not as good as the others but still help..
