He Calls It Art…

…I call it repulsive.

Chilean artist Marco Evaristti presented his friends with his newest creation on Thursday night: Meatballs cooked with fat from his own body, extracted by liposuction.

Evaristti produced 48 meatballs from his own fat, some of which will be canned and sold for US$4,000 ($6,200) for 10. Two cans have already been sold to collectors for US$23,200 each.

He claimed that the meatballs were not only delicious, but contained less fat than supermarket meatballs.

If what this article says is true (which claims to have gotten a copy of the pivotal chapter of the cancelled book), then he’s gotten away with murder. Heck, even the ghostwriter of his book thinks he’s a murderer.

So did he do it? My money says yes, and he got away with it.

Spring Cleaning At Bend Blogs

I do this once in a while, and it was time to do it again. I just put about 30 blogs into deprecated status at Bend Blogs, meaning they won’t be checked for updates or listed on the front page. Why? Because they either haven’t updated in 12 months, the blog has gone or have left the area. So there are now 228 blogs that have been updated in the last 12 months getting indexed over at Bend Blogs. If I’m missing any, be sure to let me know.

Welcome KTVZ.com Readers

A couple days ago I posted about a group of Bigfoot searchers who were coming to Central Oregon next summer. Today, a story ran in the Bulletin (which you have to pay to read online and I forgot to read it in the print edition at work), and KTVZ now has the story on their Web site, and Barney was nice enough to give me a link and credited me with reporting it on Monday (I have no idea if the Bulletin mentions my site).

However, I forgot to properly thank the person who sent me that link originally, so Cheryl, thanks for that! She also sent it to Dave Barry (like she does with many things she sends me, as I always see his email included in what she sends me). He posted it on his blog before I did because he obviously has more free time on his hands than I or is getting paid to blog and write or something. (That being said, I’ve been known to send Dave stuff, too as I have a lot of respect for the guy.)

How do you keep your urinals (and the floors around them) cleaner?

This is so hilarious, but it’s absolutely true: If men see something to aim at in the urinal, like a bug, they will try to hit it with their stream (admit it guys, we’ve all done it). So it stands to reason that if you permanently embed said target into the actual urinal, you could save yourself a bunch of cleaning costs as there’s less spillage. That’s what they did at the Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam by etching a little fly into the bowl, and they claim it has reduced spillage by 80%.

The Winner In The High-Def DVD Wars Will Be Decided By The Porn Folks

Out of the two competiting high-definition DVD formats that are coming out, I personally like HD-DVD. Why? It doesn’t have as much DRM-nastiness as the Sony product (or at least isn’t in bed with movie studios), it’s cheaper, and its encryption has already been broken meaning you can now make legal backup copies of your HD-DVDs. That, and I also don’t like Sony, the biggest backer of the Blu-Ray format.

But I have a feeling that the porn industry is going to make the format decision for us. Like it or not, the adult film industry generally sets a lot of the trends out there when it comes to video formats. They were the first to stream video online, first major adopter of DVDs, and they’re embracing the HD-DVD format. Biggest reason? Economics — Blu-Ray costs more to produce. If I remember correctly, HD-DVD discs can be produced in existing DVD factories with minor retro-fitting, while Blu-Ray requires new machines and processes. I personally just hope a format is settled on soon so that customers don’t have to try to understand all this mess.

This Will Be A Huge Boon To Central Oregon Tourism

I’d completely avoid Central Oregon from June 14-17. Why? Because the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization is coming to Central Oregon, and you know those guys can get a little crazy searching for Sasquatch. But considering there have been twelve sightings in Deschutes County and 195 total in Oregon, I can see their reasons for coming here.
