My parents are celebrating their 30th anniversary in Thailand next month (the entire month), staying with an exchange student that lived with them a while back. But their plans may change now that the Thai military has staged a coup (more stories will show up here). While the State Department hasn’t issued any travel warnings for the area, I would expect them to shortly.

I have friends in thailand and they were like “what? where did you hear that from”
I wouldn’t worry 🙂
Well, there is a video on cnn.com, im not sure I would be wanting to go there…
I’m in Bangkok right now. Last night I heard about the coup and ran down to the epicenter at Government House. To say that this is a bloodless coup is a huge understatement. The big victims that I saw last night were the scores of journalists who had to wait around for hours and take pictures of the two tanks and the 8 soldiers carrying, if my days playing counterstrike serve me well, M4A1s. The highlight was when some more soldiers came and put up orange road cones around the tanks. I would recommend that no one delay their travel plans due to this coup.
(09:56:19 AM) Aaron Wormus: so what’s with this coup thing?
(09:56:33 AM) Martin: lol, its all hype
(09:56:36 AM) Martin: nothings wrong here
(09:56:44 AM) Martin: very peaceful
(09:56:58 AM) Martin: although its annoying that the army seem to be censoring cnn here
(09:57:29 AM) Martin: but i think international news are really making it into a big deal
(09:57:33 AM) Martin: nobody here cares
(09:57:43 AM) Martin: its unlikely to get messy
Time Wasters
Family issues are going to slow down my posting over the next few days (starting yesterday). I’m not going to go into the issues here, but I do wish I…
