I’m Putting This On My Christmas List

Remember that awful leg lamp from A Christmas Story? Now you can buy one.

You’ll shoot your eye out!

Scott says:

I wanted to get one for my Dad last Christmas. There are different types (big, small, tiny) all over eBay, but they are all too expensive for my tastes. Maybe I should have just got him a big box that said “Fragile” (it’s French, you know).

Jake says:

Scott: Isn’t it pronounced “fra-jee-lay?” 😉

Paul says:

“Oh, fudge!”

Scott says:

Jake, that’s right, I was just hoping someone would get the joke.

Trystan Shout says:

Jake —
My brother is a HUGE fan of the “Christmas Story” movie. He just leaves TBS on the TV when they broadcast the film for 24 hours straight and wanders in and out of the room and the story.
(Ironically, I met the author Jean Shepard when I was a high school journalist years ago.)
So I bought a leg lamp for my brother. It cost $140 plus $35 shipping – in a box marked “Fragile” (fra-gee-lay) and including a “major award” certificate.
He and his wife love it. It has a place of honor in their bedroom.
(Scott, the best place to buy is directly from Red Rider Lamps. I too checked eBay and most people wanted too much for one.)

Jake says:

HAHA. Nice, Trystan. Thanks for the comments!

I’ve got one, it’s great!
I wish the leg was a little brighter though.
