This is going to sound insane, but I would LOVE to date a geek. I keep getting hit on by all these jock types and it’s making me crazy! I want a guy who has brains, can fix my toaster and doesn’t care that I hate football! Only problem is I have no way of finding one. I walk into GameStart and feel like a sideshow attraction. Not their fault, but I’m really not sure how to act. I feel really intimidated. I’m not a computer genius but I am intelligent… any tips?
I feel da same way u do. I love geeks. Sadly my boyfriend is a wrestler so i have no fun with him. I think geeks are hot and if i would find one i would take him. Good luck with your search.
Go buy a “Computers for Dummies” type book. You don’t need to be a computer genius, but you need to have a general understanding of how they operate. After you have done that, walk up to any geek guy, and introduce yourself. I can guarantee that he will be more intimidated that you are, but we can not resist the chance to have a girl hit on us. After a few minutes, ask him if he would like to go for a cup of coffee. I guarantee that he will go.
I have a lot of geek friends and they are pretty cool. I am not a geek myself but i like hanging out with them. geeks dont even think about talking to girls and if a girl started talking to him he wouldnt know what to say. If you told a geek that you were interested in him or wanted to go to the movies somtime, i know for a fact that he would go. And wrestlers arent that bad. I am one.
I’m a wrestler too, and I’m also geek. It’s a strange combination but my friend is also a wrestler and he is going to princeton to become a doctor. Point being that wrestling and intelligence often go together. BUt if you want to go out with a geek, just be very very direct.
yeah i totally agree geeks are hot hot hot! I am a bit of a geek myself but all my friends and my boyfriend are like the total opposite i would love to find a geek boyfriend, there so much more intelligent/interesting. So if anyone out there has any pointers as how to find and approch one please……
thanks x
I’m a geek in every sense of the word, and I’m with Brett on this one, if you walked up to a geek and started talking to him he would definitely be more intimidated than you, he would talk to you though, and if you expressed an interest romantically in him he would most definitely go out with you, it is just the way we’re wired.
Hi i am a geek…ever since I started reading the dictionary at age 4. I just wish ironically…that more were saying hey hey hey! But sadly they are just doing and doing….which I admire…as I do too. I just work with 90% women. So i dont meet male geeks….just women.
OH, wow, I posted here like 2 years ago; forget already that I did. Mind you, can’t believe no one ever contacted me. HAH! So much for “looking for a geek guy”, huh 🙂
All I want to add is that you DON’T have to buy a “Computers for Dummies” book to snatch a geek. In fact, I could honestly say that despite being a major computer geek, I much rather talk about something other than computers with a girl. Unless, she’s super good with them. Honestly, I don’t want to hear that you find Torrents super cool and that you spent last night trying to download one, it’s lame!
I think a geek guy would be more interested in you if you had some interests… not necessarily computer related ones. Get a damned hobby! I would never go out with a girl that lists “having fun with friends and partying” as her interests.
Also, kudos to the person who said that a girl needs to be very direct with a geek guy if she wants to score him. There’s a bunch of “meme” going around that geek guys suck with women and don’t have girlfriends, etc. There’s a huge chance that a geek you laid your eyes on IS interested in you, but simply doesn’t know how attraction works for women and would never think that you are also interested in him. Saying “Hey, let’s go out on a date!”, I think, would be the fastest way to catch a geek; don’t expect him to figure “it” out on his own, his computer tutorials or whatever else he is interested in is far more important than a possibility of scoring a date with a woman. Once on a date, if he thinks you’re lame it will be easy to tell, he’ll probably just tell you that.
From my personal experience, there were a few women who were interested in me, but with whom I stopped interacting in favor of writing some stupid CSS tutorials… point at hand? If those women would just say “Hey, man! I like you and I wanna go out! Let’s go!”, I would reconsider my decisions.
Geeks have logical mentallity, the whole dating/attraction is not logical but hormonal (or whatever you wanna call it) so the geek guy would likely get bored with it fast if he doesn’t see it logically.
A geek guy may reject you at first, but if you prove yourself to be interesting and challenging, you can get one. Oh, a note about “challenging”, you must challenge your geek guy at all times if you want to keep him.
Tell the guy, “Hey, so I heard you are good with computers, huh? I have a computer at home and it’s super SLOW, would you be able to fix that?” would be much more successful for you than saying “Hey, I think you’re cute, wanna go out for a coffee?”. I guarantee you that. Going out for a coffee to talk about weather and dying animals is lame in geek’s eyes. Going to girl’s place to fix some hardware, electrict, whatever problem is far more exciting. And you sure want to keep your geek excited. If you want to score with a geek guy, make sure your appliances and all the electronic stuff “breaks” on a constant basis. Even if he can’t fix it, he’ll be very happy that you trusted him to fix it.
Good luck on keeping your geek.
