Honestly, I’ve always enjoyed Conan O’Brien far more than Jay Leno (Conan’s written some great Simpson’s episodes, which is just one more reason to respect the guy), and I’m glad to hear that in 2009, Leno will step down and let Conan take over. Link via Waxy.

Doesn’t it seem odd that they’re announcing this so early? Won’t this make Leno a “lame duck” talkshow host for the next five years? Won’t his jokes be just a little less funny because everyone knows he doesn’t even have to try anymore?
It does seem a little premature to announce this. It makes me wonder what’s really going on.
Yeah I’m getting the impression that the probability that O’Brien will host the show in 2009 is slim to none. Not because he doesn’t deserve to, but because a trillion things could vary by then. I’d guess the important people involved know this already and are trying to milk some side effect of the announcement. pitiful 😛
