Volunteer Extras Needed for One Day Shoot on “Nearing Grace”

(Starring: Gregory Smith “Everwood,” Ashley Johnson “What Women Want,” Jordana Brewster “The Fast and The Furious” and David Morse “The Green Mile”)

Friday, June 25th

We need all types of people, 16 and older.

Location: Portland Area School (TBA: To Be Announced)

Call Time: TBA (Full day shoot starting in the morning — no more than 10 hours total)

The movie is set in 1979 and the scene you will be participating in is a spring graduation ceremony. The setting is an auditorium. Gregory Smith, Ashley Johnson, and Jordana Brewster will all be on the set during the filming of this scene.

This is a non-paid, volunteer position, but we WILL PROVIDE LUNCH and snacks. You will be asked to sign a photo release.

Due to continuity issues, we ask that you are willing to spend the entire shoot day with us. If we establish you in a scene early in the day, it may be necessary to match your scene late in the day. Wardrobe suggestions are included at the bottom of this email.

We ask that you bring things to help pass the slow time (while we are setting up equipment in between shots). IPODs, games, books, homework, magazines, knitting etc. are all good examples of things to bring. Avoid bringing valuables if possible.

We will need cooperation while on the set, but hope this will be an educational and exciting experience. Please never hesitate to ask questions. We want all of you to have a good time and a great experience.

As a special thank you to only our volunteer extras, we will be raffling off TWO “MEAN CREEK” Portland Premiere Party Packs. Each package includes 2 tickets to the Portland premiere of “MEAN CREEK” as well as 2 VIP passes to the after party with the cast and crew. **Whitewater Films, the same filmmakers as “Nearing Grace”, produced its’ first feature, “MEAN CREEK”, last summer in Oregon. The film, stars Rory Culkin, Ryan Kelley, Scott Mechlowicz, Trevor Morgan, Josh Peck and Carly Schroeder. “MEAN CREEK” will be distributed by Paramount Classics.**

Wardrobe – Graduation Ceremony

This movie is set in 1979 and the scene you will be participating in takes place in the spring. If you have any clothes from this period please bring them. Even if you don’t have period clothes, please dress as if you were going to a graduation ceremony.

Wardrobe Basics

We are not allowed to show logos or brand names. Avoid loud colors or stripes. Also limit the amounts of black and white in your choices. The more clothing and accessory options that you bring with you the more likely you will be placed in a more visible position during the shoot. Wear appropriate underwear in case we end up dressing some of you for more prominent placement in the scene.

Men

General Requirements – light colored, preferably close fitting because the pants in this time period are close fitting. The top half of your body is most important. Suits or slacks and sport jacket

Shirt – Long or short sleeve dress shirt with tie.

Tie – Should not be too brightly colored or have too busy of a pattern.

Shoes – Dress shoes or loafers. No sneakers or sandals please. Think classic and conservative.

Women

General Requirements – light colored, spring colors, no black. The top half of your body is more important than the bottom half.

Dresses – below knee length, long or short sleeves, spring colors.

Skirts – Below knee length, A-line. No mini or maxi skirts.

Pants – Dress pants, not too tight. Think classic.

Blouses – Long or short sleeve, but springtime.

Shoes – High heels or flats are fine. No sneakers or flips flops. Again, think classic and conservative.
