Would it help if I mentioned that I coded a hybrid version of Scorched Earth / Super Artillery in ’93? (no really, I coded lots of stuff in ’93 🙂
.. forgot to insert, the platform for that one was the TI-82 calculator.
And if you don’t believe me you can ask Raimi, it was his calculator.
And if you still-still don’t believe me, and you have a TI-82 with a hookup-dealie-bob, I’m pretty sure I still have the program file, unlike alla my TRS-80 disks which are in that great bit bucket in the skie 🙂
Yeah; I couldn’t find that ti-82 file (@#$!) but you’ve got to realize that the “time on my hands” while I coded that bad boy was high school calculus class.
Raimi and I had this unwritten contest to try and get the lowest score in the class. We’d usually write out puzzles and shit on bits of paper and crack jokes and e’ery now and then I’d code games on his calculator. I lost the contest, spectacularily. I was really sleepy and groggy and I wasn’t with it, and somebody handed me this pop quiz and I wasn’t paying attention so I filled it out. Aced it of course, and ended up with a 2.57% average in the class as a result.. falling miles behind Raimie’s spotless 0% avg 🙂
Sadly, I can vouch for that. And if it weren’t for me stumbling across this page (I’ll bet ya’ll will never guess how THAT happened…), I would have forgotten all about that contest and our inane activities to kill the time. Of course, it went by a lot faster once we had the TI-Artillery to pass back and forth. Thanks Jesse! 🙂
Oh and you forgot one of my E’s.
Speaking of stumbling across this page! I can also vouch for everything Jesse did in high school…he (and Raimie) were pretty much the only reason why I passed calculus…thanks guys!

Once again, I ended up doing a search on my name on the ‘net (sshhh! not my fault this time – honest! I was talking to a friend in P-ville on the phone while looking up his nephew who does MMA fighting and he told me to look up my name on the ‘net and tell him what I found for kicks) and came across this old ball and thread!
You’ve got to be the coolest ‘popular’ guy I remember in H.S. I have fond memories of the trip to Ashland where you and I shared a room and you kindly endured my nerdy lecture on astronomy while Ledford (whose brother I was, very coincidentally, looking up just now) was next door getting his…oral fixation…at the party we didn’t go to.
I still remember the play “Pool of Bethesda” from that trip…I think it’s why I still like going to theatre from time to time today…
Funny what we remember, isn’t it?
