I just put live a couple more sites for a couple folks. They’re nothing fancy, but they get the job done and give me something else to add to my meager portfolio. Let me know if you guys find any odd little quirks on them so I can fix them:
Home Improvement Services (my Dad’s company, hence the domain)

Looks good, Jake. I like how you provided hyperlinks for navigation on the golf course site, as well as the fancy-schmancy javascriptish ones. Makes for good compatibility with those crummy old browsers or with java turned off.
What’s with the bridge in the picture up top? An old railroad passenger car?
billortman.com is clean and simple and works.
Nice to see some sophisticated but restrained web design. Most people are either mismatched HTML or go the opposite into Flash City.
Yes, that is an old passenger car. That’s their par-3 signature 16th. It’s a bridge to the island green. It’s pretty cool, actually, as people have started a tradition of hanging a bag tags from courses all over the world in there, and it looks pretty cool.
But I agree: Too many people format the hell out of things, and I’m not interested in that. Even the graphics on losttracks.com will work fine with Javascript turned off.
Isn’t it a bit ironic, though, that a web designer’s own site is a “coming soon” page? ;-P
Yes, I know it’s a coming soon page, but just like I said on the site, I’ve been working with so many different folks that I haven’t had time to do my own site. I have a template ready, but I want to get the back-end purchasing and ordering stuff fully tested and figured out first before I even think about making the front-end pretty.
I know. But did you expect me not to give you some flack about that?
Actually, I’m surpised you were the first to notice 😉
I suspect that with all this good weather, everyone is out goofing off.
Speaking of, after this post I’m sticking up my AIM away message:
It’s clear, sunny, and 86 degrees. And you think I’d stay inside on the net why???
Both sites look great. Particularly like the layout and color scheme of Home Improvement..
One small thing, the black lettering at the bottom of the page [HI site] is unreadable to me and the white links draw the eye down to that section…
Maybe change the color?
However, I really like the clean design.
On the golf site appreciate the navigation.
Dave
Yes, the color of the footer text is something I’m considering changing. It’s all CSS, so an easy change. I’ll play with it all at some point.
