If you were to work with a bunch of strangers to build a high-rise building, with everybody designing their own floor, you’d end up with some interesting results. That was the idea behind this project, and the results are very cool. This and previous link from b3ta.

Ban the Comic Sans typeface
I’ve never been a big fan of the Comic Sans typeface from Microsoft. It has its uses, but people use it far too much. Apparently there’s a group that hates it so much, they’ve created nice little stickers for you to paste onto signs who use the typeface.
Looking for accommodation this summer in Athens, Greece?
Look no more! If you’re a girl, aged between 20 and 28, reasonably good looking and open-minded, you can stay in Athens in a beautiful house, free of charge.
What’s the catch?
Make sure you wear an appropriate shirt when convicted
From the Smoking Gun: As if driving drunk and killing a guy weren’t bad enough, take a look at the t-shirt this Wisconsin mook was wearing when he got arrested.
Saving Private Lynch: take 2
To quote the story: “In the 1998 film “Wag the Dog,” political operatives employ special editing techniques to create phony footage that will engender public sympathy for a manufactured war. Now we find that in 2003 the real-life Pentagon’s ability and willingness to manipulate the facts make Hollywood’s story lines look tame. After a thorough investigation, the British Broadcasting Corp. has presented a shocking dissection of the “heroic” rescue of Pvt. Jessica Lynch, as reported by the U.S. military and a breathless American press.”
Basically, what the author is saying that the Bush administration made the whole Jessica Lynch POW rescue into something way more than it was, flat out saying that it was a crock. More outlets publishing the story. Crazy stuff, but I certainly wouldn’t put it beyond anybody in Washington, especially this administration.
30 Ways to Capture Readers
Dr. Ink‘s columns have always been a favorite of mine. He recently wrote his 300th column, and it provides some VERY useful information that’s not only useful for newspapers, but some of the same ideas can be applied to other mediums as well. Be sure to check it out.
SharpMT — my new w.bloggar replacement
I’ve been looking for a more MT-specific tool to replace w.bloggar, and I have now found it: SharpMT (or #MT). #MT is an off-line composition tool similar to w.bloggar, but it has more tools specific to MT: Extended entry, Exerpts, Drafts, Keywords, etc… . Basically, it takes the advanced MT interface, and put it into a Windows program. It’s a great tool, and is now in my start-up menu (and the author is in the process of adding Spell Checking — the only other feature I’d really like to see).
Ruminations
From Ruminate.com:
My wife told me that picking my nose is disgusting. Great — now I’ve got to do it myself.
Finally breaking through all of the old grudges, confronting past hurts, and truly forgiving my ex-husband was easy. Giving him that hug that says “everything’s okay” was easy. The hard part was digging his dismembered corpse out of my flower bed.
I was fired from my job for peeing in my trash can. I know it was a gross thing to do, but I really had to go bad — and hey, I had my back to my students.
When my parents come to visit, I force them to smoke pot and do straight shots of whiskey. Hey, when you’re in MY house, you live by MY rules.
