UtterlyBoring.com is produced by Jake Ortman (e-mail, resume), a 33-year-old dad, percussionist, sysadmin, Web developer, IT consultant and jack-of-all-trades geek, living in Bend, Oregon. He created this so that his expensive journalism and technology degree isn't getting totally wasted. In addition to editing this site in his free time, he is the IT Director and graphic designer at both Sunray and Discover Sunriver. The truth is I have never been drunk. I have no desire to ever get wasted. I don't drink just because everyone else is. I like the taste of a good beer or fine wine every now and then. No crappy beers (Bud, Coors...). I'm just curious Jake, do you not drink because you don't like the taste, or do you think it makes you a better person to not drink, or fear of alcholism? There are studies that show drinking certain wine and dark beers are actually good for you (obviously in moderation). I can state that I don't smoke, because it's gross and has absolutely no health benefits. Other than the history of alcoholics in my family, I've just seen too many people whose lives have been completely f**ked up by alcohol. I've also had a good friend of mine who was nearly-killed by a drunk driver, and I don't want to somehow be the one behind the whell, drunk, and do that to somebody's innocent family. I really don't have a problem with others drinking, and most of my best friends drink, but they also respect that I won't.
