100 Comments in 100 hours

At last check, he still has 18 to go, but he’s getting there. The guidelines he’s going to follow:

1. The total number of comments submitted in 100 hours must be at least 100.

2. Comments must be on topic (I’m not trying to contribute to webspam) […].

3. Comments submitted to sites on a blogroll or regularly read bloglist do not count toward the 100.

4. Neither do multiple comments on one weblog.

5. Linking/Trackbacking ties it all together.

I’m glad to say that I was part of this project, as comment number 55 (which is the only reason I knew about this project).

They need a warning label on this thing

Warning: Eating this could cause your heart to stop. It’s ain’t poison, but damn close enough. What’s in it? 64 grams of fat, 2,090 milligrams of sodium, and enough cholesterol to kill anything that’s ever lived. That’s the scariest damn thing I’ve ever seen. I wonder if this is worse than the 18-oz hamburger I ate years ago?

Keep my ego in check

Sum up your opinion or impression of me in one word. Leave it as a comment in this posting. Then post this sentence in your own journal.

The Friday Five – Sports

’tis been a while since I’ve done one of these, so what the hell.

1. Do you watch sports? If so, which ones?

I don’t watch much sports. I like to watch college sports, primarily, as pro sports are full of greedy pricks who are more interested in money than the game. Whiners. I watch the Ducks play whenever I can — usually football or basketball.

If I have a choice, I’ll watch a track meet at Hayward Field any day of the week. That place is, bar-none, the best American venue for track and field.

2. What/who are your favorite sports teams and/or favorite athletes?

Like I said before, I’m a Duck fan, but I’m also a fan of good runners — high school, college, elite, whatever. I like to watch the progress of folks I could beat at one point or another who have now because stud runners. Haile Gebrselassie is a stud, and I love watching him run. I also love watching other endurance sports, and was glued during the Tour de France.

I also really like watching billiards/pool, but that’s because I like to play it.

3. Are there any sports you hate?

Like I said before, most of the major pro sports annoy the hell out of me. I quit watching the JailBlazers years ago, despite being a big fan as a kid. I don’t like watching fishing/hunting things, either. I’m not against the actions of the sport, just watching it.

4. Have you ever been to a sports event?

Went to every Duck home football, basketball, and track meet that I could during my 4 years there. I went to a TrailBlazer game back when they were still good and not criminals (Porter, Duckworth, Kersey, Williams, Drexler, Robinson, and the rest of the good ol’ boys). But otherwise, just Duck stuff, and the occassional Pre Classic.

5. Do/did you play any sports (in school or other)? How long did you play?

I played Little League baseball from six-years-old until I got in to high school where it just was way to competitive. I road-bike raced for a couple years in 7th/8th grade. I got into running in the 8th grade, competed on a state and regional level all through high school, and then independently through college. I haven’t run as much lately because of back problems, but I prefer to run the longer distance nasty cross-country races. My motto: If I don’t cross the finish line bloody, dirty, and in pain, it ain’t running 🙂 The last hard-core races that I competed in before getting sick and injured were the MacDonald Forest 15K years ago and last year’s Hood To Coast. My goal is to get back into shape and run them again, but this time the longer races. I know I’ll never have the leg speed again to run the 4:15 mile that I ran in college, but if I can get back down to a 5:30, I could easily take that over quite a few miles. We’ll have to see.

I’ve always thought the Teletubbies were weird

But “Nazi Hybrid Greys in Disguise?” I don’t know if I’d go that far.

What happens when you microwave grapes?

Pixel Art City

I posted a while back about the Pixel Art Tower. Basically, the premise is that you work with a bunch of strangers to build a high-rise building, with everybody designing their own floor, and you end up with some interesting results. Well, another site has taken the idea, and made it into a horizontal town. Very cool!

Limp Bizkit sued for 17-minute concert

I don’t know about you, but 17-minutes would’ve been more than long enough for me, but apparently not for the fans that paid good money to see them.

He’s still a spoiled little bitch

I have to give props to Ken for getting a review he wrote a while back copied and posted in the latest Lockergnome Apple Core Newsletter. Congrats, man!

How do you lead-off a blog post that’s going to piss off some folks?

You start it with this: “Proving the Catholic church is led by schmucks who have their heads stuck up their asses[…]”. Let the flame fest at Stupid Evil Bastard begin. I know I’ll avoid it — religion debates annoy me. But I agree with Les on this one 🙂
