I say bring the bugger down here, and put it in one of our traffic circles here in Bend. Couldn’t be any worse than some of the odd-ball ones we already have (that Phoenix at the 14th and Galveston intersection is ugly). Thanks Cheryl for the link.
They’ll Get Their Taxes Somehow
Even if you steal $16,000, the government still wants to tax you on it.
Unsolicited Commercial Love Story
One man’s mission (with help from around the world) to find out who the girl is that he keeps seeing in all the spam and pop ups around the Web. Hilarious read, and amazing what kind of exposure modeling for a stock photo agency will get you.
Half Your Age, Plus Seven
Apparently that’s the youngest you should date. So if you’re 60 years old, you could date a 37-year-old. Thanks computerwolf for the link.
Simpson’s Chalkboard Archive
This is why I love The Simpsons (at least the older episodes). During the opening credits, something is always different. They end with a different couch scene, and begin with Bart writing something different on the chalkboard for punishment. Now the latter have been archived here for your viewing pleasure.
Blogging Good For Your Career?
We’ve all heard the stories of folks who have been fired for blogging (the most notable being the Google guy), but here’s one notable blogger that explains how blogging can be good for your career.
Does This Guy Have a Mental Issue?
If you just won $27-million in the lottery, would you be worried about making your bus on time and make it to work on time so boss didn’t get mad at you? This guy was.
Best Use Of Amazon Web Services I’ve Seen
This is the coolest use of Amazon Web Services I’ve seen: Type in a phrase, and it will construct an image displaying your text using covers of books, music, videos, etc… . Give it a whirl. Click on a cover for more details on the book to purchase the book, making him a few pennies as well.
As an example, here’s dang near every PHP book in existence, constructing the letters “PHP”. Click on a title to get more information, reviews, etc… . Very impressive!
Winnie From Wonder Years Is A Math Geek
I remember The Wonder Years and remember all it’s characters and the show really well. What’s more entertaining to me is what the folks from the show are doing now. While Fred Savage is still doing lame acting jobs, Winnie and Paul are doing well with themselves. Paul Pfeiffer, was played by Josh Saviano, and he’s now a Yale-educated lawyer. And Danica McKellar, the girl who played Winnie Cooper, now has her own Web site, went off to college to study math (will even answer your math questions) and did some very advanced study. While she’s gotten back into acting, she still considers math one of her passions.
<dude>Geek girls are hot, man.</dude>
On a related note, pulled from this MeFi thread, apparently Dolph Lundgren has masters degree in chemical engineering and was awarded a scholorship to MIT. Who knew? Or that Dexter Holland (lead singer for The Offspring) has a Ph. D in Molecular Biology. It is nice to read about smart celebs now and again.
