Jack Ass dies

The former Robert Craft, the man who changed his legal name to Jack Ass in 1997 and founded the Hearts Across America campaign that encouraged people to put up big red “healing hearts” along highways, has himself died. This is the same guy who sued MTV for defamation of character a while back.

Actor Gregory Peck Dies at 87

It’s a sad, sad day. He will always be Atticus Finch to me, but he’s played in many great movies.

What a busy day — yet a really sad one, too

A co-worker of mine left a message with our company answering service that she wouldn’t be in to work today, but left no details. Then somebody else called in sick. It made today a really busy day because we were already understaffed, but it made it even worse when I found why the co-worker wasn’t going to be in today (or for the forseeable future, for that matter): her roommate died in a car crash yesterday, and her passenger was injured as well.

Gotta be careful on that pass, folks. Even if you’re driving 25-mph, the ice will still throw you. I know they were driving safe, but sometimes that ice will come out of nowhere (especially on that pass), and it’s sad that it happened. May she rest in peace.

Mister Rogers dies of Cancer

It’s sad when somebody we all grew up with (whether we’d like to admit it or not) had to die in such a painful way. Full Story Here. May he rest in peace.

Space Shuttle may provide light show

This article was from sfgate.com on the 31st, the day before the shuttle exploded. The article quoted: “Bay Area watchers may catch a brilliant flash of light crossing the Northern sky.” Sadly, they were more correct than they thought.

Seven feared dead in space shuttle disaster

In case you haven’t heard, the space shuttle Columbia appears to have broken up in flames over North Texas. It is feared that all seven crew members, six Americans and an Israeli, have been killed.

My heart goes out to the families of those brave men and women who piloted that ship. The press conference from NASA is due in about 15 minutes.

My idea (and I’m sure this will anger a bunch of people): Put some of the billions of dollars we put into NASA every year into education in the country. Then we’ll be able to create better rocket scientists and engineers starting now so stuff like this won’t EVER happen again. I remember seeing the Challenger explode when I was in elementary school and crying. This should never happen again. Ever. Put some money into education in this country so that it doesn’t. Done ranting now, thanks for listening.
