Concert Time

Like I’ve mentioned before, I have a concert tomorrow afternoon. It’ll be a good show, it’s free, and there will be munchies and drinks during intermission, so I’d encourage you all to come and scream and yell for your favorite local blogger. Or not, but do come and have a listen, tell all your friends, etc… .

Mr. Thomas can finally move to The Bahamas and open up a moped lot…

…as it looks like his dealership isn’t going to sell Chryslers anymore (if you don’t get the joke in the headline you’re obviously not local nor listen to local radio).

TS&S still sells Subarus here in Bend (they used to sell Hyundai’s, too, but that’s now a Jim Smolich thing) so they’ll still be around focusing on Subarus — which seem to be really popular around here, so I’m sure they’ll be fine. I’d just have any repair work done somewhere else.

Cascade Winds In Final Concert of The Season

I do this all the time — the cheap plug for the local concerts that I’m a part of. While I don’t know if anybody actually comes to the concerts based on my mentions (I’d like to think that somebody does), you’re still going to have to put up with it. Especially when this concert promises to be such a great show with music for everybody. And it’s free, so what have you got to lose?

For all the details click here or click on that big ol’ banner over on the right side of the page.

Update: As a commenter pointed out, there will be free munchies and drinks during intermission. Always forget about that, as I’m usually on stage prepping for the second half.

Your Signal’s Broken

It’s not that folks don’t know how to use their turn signals, it’s just that none of them work. Maybe it’s Bend’s altitude.

All In Favor Of Winter Being Over, Say “Aye”

I don’t know about the rest of you, but waking up to snow on the driveway (and an inch on the ground at the office) when it’s nearly May isn’t my idea of a good time. Anybody else ready for this to be over? I’d love to not have to start a fire every stinking morning.

It’s My Fault

I want to apologize to all of Central Oregon (but mostly to the folks who live south of Bend) for the weather today and the icy and snowy conditions (especially the bobsled run that is US 97 and South Century Drive down by Sunriver). You see, I took my studded tires off yesterday, in preparation for the deadline to have them removed, and because of that, it snowed, froze, and became a skating rink last night.

This author regrets the error.

Local Market Makes National News For Expensive Vinegar

So the Newport Market has a high-end balsamic vinegar thief, says a story from the Bulletin a week ago. The story’s gotten spread across the AP wire, getting spread all over the place, but I think Fark had the best headline of all:

Store owner responds to repeated shoplifting of balsamic vinegar with sign reading: “Thanks to the Balsamic Vinegar Thief this area is now under surveillance. We will get you.” Sounds like sour grapes to me.

On a related note, who the heck buys a $40 bottle of vinegar? Maybe those folks should get together with our State Senator who has an obsession with olive oil and make themselves a nice dressing.

Busy Weekend

If anybody’s trying to get ahold of me this weekend, I wish you luck. I’m playing with the Central Oregon Symphony this weekend (www.cosymphony.com) and I have rehearsal tonight and then concerts the next three nights. The show is going to be great, even if my parts are boring. If you do make it, make sure to come find me and say “Hi.”

(This was posted from my mobile, so pardon spelling errors and lack of links.)

Yet Another Accident on Highway 97

While alcohol is generally a factor in quite a few local crashes (especially at nearly 2AM), it’s not too often where both drivers involved are drunk.

Does anybody else find it interesting that so far this winter (at least from what I can tell) there have been more accidents between Bend and Redmond than between Bend and Sunriver? The weather’s usually worse on the latter, but the former has quite a bit more traffic. I just think I remember reading more about accidents down south, but maybe I’m just losing it (which would surprise nobody, I’m sure).

Is The Bend Pregnant “Man” Taking Advantage Of Women-Owned Business Benefits?

A reader e-mailed me with an interesting discussion topic around Bend’s infamous Pregnant “Man” (who’s pregnant again, remember):

I wonder how many “woman owned” business advantages the pregnant “man” is taking advantages of. I wonder if there is any way to track that?

Good question. Anybody know? Anybody care?
