Compuserve Is Still Around?

Well, it was up until last month, when AOL killed the last remaining bits of it. It’s apparently been around since 1969.

I remember getting on there when I used to babysit for my neighbors, who had a computer and a Compuserve account, and playing around on there and thinking it was the coolest thing on earth. My have things changed.

Before everybody had high speed, we geeks connected to the ‘net with modems. Usually we connected with the 56kbps variety (my first modem was a 2400baud, but that was just for community BBSs). Add The Konami Code To Your Web Site

Any old-school NES gamer will know all about the Konami code. Contra and Gradius were both a pain in the butt without the code. Apparently there are a bunch of sites that have easter eggs if you use the Konami Code on the site, and now there’s an easy way to add the cheat code to your site.

Windows 7’s Highly-Touted “XP Mode” Sounds Cool…

…but when actually tested, it’s really clunky. Nevermind that it only works on certain Intel CPUs that support Intel VT-x (no idea if Microsoft will implement support for AMD-V).
