If he succeeds, he’ll be the oldest guy to make it. If he doesn’t, he’ll be the oldest guy to fail. Either way, he’s old, but still cool.

Need to meet OSHA regulations?
Then build yourself a PDF safety sign. Cool little toy.
The CSS Zen Garden
If you’re a Web developer, you know the power of CSS. If you’re like me, however, you know the power, but don’t know how to exploit it (or have to develop for older browsers — I hate doing that). For those of you who are still designing pages without CSS, this site will show you what it can do. Click on the links on the right side of that page to see the same site in six different layouts and the only thing that changes between them all is the linked stylesheet. VERY cool, and I wish I could pull stuff off like that (I’m still stuck using tables for layout, thank you very much [grin]).
Want to get HDTV signals for free?
Go to AntennaWeb, plug in your address, and point your antenna to the direction it tells you (and make sure you have the type of antenna it says you need), and you’ll be surprised how many local networks you can get in HDTV and/or digital signals without paying for a thing.
What do you do when you have too much free time and know Javascript?
You create something like this. Simple yet cool. But you can see it’s pretty damn complicated by looking at the source code.
Like Digital Photography?
(From MetaFilter): Think you’re good at it? DPChallenge offers amateur photographers the opportunity to compete in a free weekly challenge. Users submit digital photos of a certain challenge topic, taken that week, and then vote (and leave feedback) on all the other submissions during the following week, allowing aspiring digital photographers to find out just where they rank, and how to improve their skills. (And if you’d like, you can buy prints of some of your favorite entries.)
Tim Robbins is my hero
I always though he was good in the movies he’s been in (especially The Shawshank Redemption, probably my favorite movie ever), but I have found a new-found respect for the man. He gave a wonderful speech to the National Press Club where he spoke about his views on the war, the current administration, and how journalists could be the key to changing this whole mess around. Bravo, Tim, and I agree with everything you said. Link via beerdrinker.org.
The coolest commercial ever
From SlashDot: “Many have no doubt seen the Rube Goldberg-like multistep mechanical chain reaction TV advert for the Honda Accord. Many thought this was yet another example of the pervasive use of computer graphics in TV commercials. Amazingly the entire delicate set up of car parts that constitute the facinating sequence is almost 100% realtime live action requiring an astounding 606 takes to get right . There is one cheat however — can you spot it?”
Dave Barry also posted a mirror to the ad (it’s Flash, but still gets the point across). This is one of the most creative ads I have ever seen, and it’s for one of my favoriate car companies.
Drummer Resource
I’ve been looking for a good one-stop place for all things drumming (I’m a drummer, so this is handy to me), and I have finally found (thanks to ResearchBuzz) a good directory of drumming links (from instruction, music, stores, etc…): DrumminMen.com.
“The Mother of All War Websites”
This site’s title is boastful, but I’m starting to agree with them. I’ve been, generally, hesitant about posting war sites just because there hasn’t been just a one-stop-shop for a bunch of stuff. It is loaded with war video feeds, online webcams, and links to worldwide reporting from the war. One of the links seems to be a Reuters feed from Baghdad. You can watch CNN life feeds (the stuff that’s not on the air) from their satellite.
I doubt this site will stay up for too long, so enjoy it while it lasts.
