I’ve about had it with my Dodge Grand Caravan. It was a good deal at the time, but it’s just been one thing after another that needs to be fixed, and it’s time to trade it in. I want to get a different minivan, preferably a foreign one (Toyota or Honda), as Consumer Reports just rates them so much better. I certainly can’t afford a new car so I’m going to be shopping the used market, but would prefer to buy from a dealer so I could possibly get a warranty of some sort and flexible financing.
Obviously the RNR people all seem to hate Auto Warehouse, but has anybody had anything good or bad to say about any local dealers?

You will have to deal with sales “stuff” from any dealer that you go to. I personally try and buy from a person however to try and get by all that.
That being said, I did buy the “Jake’s” mobile from Auto Wharehouse and although I did have to go through with the negotiations, got a pretty good deal (much better than anyone else was willing to give).
I then met Chris George and found him to be a pretty nice guy. I know that he does give back to the community which is equally important to me.
My only other thought for you is to try out the GSA auctions in Portland. Email or call me and I will find info on them if you wish. I bought my daughter a 2002 Alero a couple of years ago for half the price of retail.
Anyway, any local car dealer buying would start with Auto Wharehouse for me.
We dealt with Les from Hertz and it was a pretty smooth deal. If there is something particular you’re looking for, he can find it at the other Hertz dealers in the NW
I was the first to buy from Robberson Ford’s ‘internet’ site a few years ago (I bought a Jeep Liberty) – over all it was a great experience. I’m not sure if the same guy is still there or if they have what your looking for but:

I had a great experience when I bought my Audi. Try CarSmart!
I can’t help you find a dealer, but will let you know that last year when we found out we were having twins, we got a used Mazda MPV, a 2004 model, and have really been pleased with it since.
And the Twins turn one today, so we’ve had it for about 16 months now I think.
Good mileage, nice ammenities, no real mechanical problems.
I got so frustrated with the car idiots in Bend that I actually bought my last car in Medford (while I was down there visiting family – not a special trip).
Try craigslist!
I’d recommend Robberson Ford (Jeff Robberson is a great guy) or Bob Thomas off the top of my head. Both contribute back to the community in a ton of assorted ways. I hear some really mixed (and strong) opinions about Auto Warehouse, but I personally have found Chris George to be a really nice guy.
I like Bob Thomas, we’ve always gotten a fair shake from them. I’d go with a Honda Odyssey, too.
Bob Thomas. I’ve never met so many nice people in one car dealership.
Of course, they couldn’t order the new Mustang I wanted, so I went to Robberson. And then I apologized to Bob Thomas. :o)
Go to Portland! Don’t even deal with the folks here. They KNOW we are trapped behind a big mountain and they treat you accordingly. Seriously, the best car deal stories I have heard in Bend are when the person left the area to get a car — new and used.
How To Sell Me A Car
As I mentioned last week, I was looking to find a local car dealer so I could get myself a new rig. I would’ve preferred to have dealt locally, but…
I’d recommend Murray and Holt motors (http://www.murrayandholt.com) – they provide great service and the original owner Jack Holt is still there.
