Take Back The Beep

We know what to do at the voicemail beep — why do the cell phone companies insist on wasting more of our time telling us what to do? Well apparently, there’s ways to turn it off, which I didn’t know. If you use Sprint, follow the directions here to disable the voicemail instructions, and Engadget has other ways to shorten the greeting on other carriers.

I use a pay-as-you go cell phone, and this is my hugest pet-peeve in the world. I’m leaving messages for people all the time, but it’s nearly impossible to leave a message in under a minute because I have to wait 30 seconds for a recorded message to drone on (as if any of us don’t know we can hang up after we leave a message).
I’m certain it’s a way for cell companies to make money, as any call that’s 1:01 costs me twice as much as a call that’s 59 seconds.
