& Ceiling Cat sayz, i can has light? & light wuz.

Some people have far too much time on their hands and are working on translating every verse of the bible into LOLCat’s kitty pidgin. So John 3:16 translates from “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life” to “So liek teh Ceiling Cat lieks teh ppl lots and he sez ‘Oh hai I givez u my only son and ifs u beleevs in him u wont evr diez no moar, k?'”

That’s A Lot Of Concrete

How much landmass do Wal-Mart stores take up? An area larger than Manhattan.

Portland Added to Google Street View

I almost wished I lived in Portland so I could play with Google Maps in Portland and actually use it. They have the obvious driving directions that everybody else has, but they also have Google Transit Trip Planner (Eugene has this now, too, as of a couple weeks ago), live traffic conditions, and now they have the controversial Street View. Here’s the view at Joseph Wood Hill Park (just dropped the little street view dude in a random place).

Any Portlanders find anything fun on there? I don’t live up there so I don’t know where to look.

KOHD’s New Site Is Up

KOHD, Bend’s fairly new ABC affiliate, debuted their new Web site. I like the clean look of it, but the content is still lacking compared to KTVZ’s. I also really hate the auto-play on the front-page video, as if I’m at work, I don’t want a random site to start playing sounds without me telling it to.

Full disclaimer: I haven’t actually watched KOHD’s newscast as I just am not home in time because of my commute (and I don’t want to get home and immediately ignore my kids and go straight to watching the news anyway), and by 11 I’m frickin’ exhausted. If I’m watching any evening news, it’s usually the KTVZ-produced 10 o’clock news on KFXO (and even then, not to often).

In other words, if you want me to read/link to your content, it’d better be online and easy to link and read as I’m not watching the newscasts.

Anyway, discuss your thoughts on the Bend TV Wars™ below.

You Won’t See This Burger At The Pilot Butte Drive In

The Luther Burger is a one pound burger with a bunch of bacon and glazed donuts in place of the bun.

Wow. That’s an instant heart attack right there.

Hey Strippers: Looking To Maximize Your Tips?

Here’s the science.

Psychologist Geoffrey Miller and colleagues tapped the talent at local gentlemen’s clubs and counted tips made on lap dances. Dancers made about $70 an hour during their peak period of fertility, versus about $35 while menstruating and $50 in between.

When Good Programs Go Bad

PC World has a great article about 13 applications it thinks should’ve just been left alone. Thanks to sites like Old Version and Old Apps, we can still get copies of those older, much more functional, muss less annoying applications.

A T-Shirt I Really Need

Everybody complains I’m hard to shop for, but I’d be a happy little geek with this Wi-Fi Detector T-Shirt.

Mile Is Now Same Length as Kilometer

First the Canadian dollar and the US dollar met in value, and now this.

I blame global warming and terrorists.

Wal-Mart’s Spreading Like A Virus

Interesting video showing how Wal-Marts spread across the country like an ugly disease (companion WSJ story). Links via BB.
