Now I’ve Heard It All

We get some weird folks who call this my office now and again (I’ve mentioned some before), but this is one I haven’t heard before. We had somebody call and say she wanted to be moved from her house because it’s too close to a house that there’s going to be a cult staying in while she’s there. How she knew this, we have no idea (she told us she heard it from a friend of a friend). The homes are about a half mile apart, which is apparently too close for her comfort.

Anybody know something I should know about? If there’s going to be a huge party in Sunriver, I like to at least be invited.

My Next Vacation Destination

I’m going to F**king, Austria, man! Thanks Barn for the link

Colleges Accepting New Orleans Refugee Students

For college students affected by the disaster, other colleges around the country are opening their doors to you, some offering free tuition. There’s a blog that is maintaining a list of schools that are opening their doors to affected students.

I have to say, while it would suck to have this happen to your home and your life utterly destroyed, it would be nice to get free tuition and room at Duke.

Flash Games For The Day

With all that’s going on the last couple days, it’s really hard to think about something fun, but if you’re looking for a work-day distraction, try this and/or this.

The World’s Ugliest Dog

Anybody seen a dog uglier than this thing? I can’t say that I have.

Update on 9/4: Here’s another lovely picture of the ugly thing.

More New Orleans Links

First off, we all probably all know what’s going on on the Gulf Coast right now. New Orleans is an underwater mess, looting is rampant, there is no control or communication as to what is going on, and the Army Corp of Engineers still hasn’t plugged the levy breaks. As I mentioned before, I hope something really bad happens to the jerks who are looting for the sake of profit and not for the sake of feeding their family. I also hope that all the morons who are trying to impede rescue efforts by forcing police to head to the streets also get what’s coming to them.

Anyway, these are the links about this whole mess that I’ve seen the last couple days (in no particular order at all).

Meanwhile, don’t forget to donate. I’m basically broke, but my wife and I are going to be digging up some cash to send along (as we did with the Tsunami). You should, too.
